Note (10/5/2012) : The latest version has a blue plastic lid instead of the original slotted aluminum lid. The new design is intended to hold the sticks better, vertically, and indeed people do seem to say that it works as intended. My review is for the original model w/ the aluminum lid, but almost everything still applies.]

I love this popsicle maker - it's very well made and easy to use - especially for the price (which seems to vary (sometimes by the hour !) between $11.xx in the Winter to $18.xx in the Summer - I paid $13.xx Winter-2011).
And I like the classic popsicle shape it makes and that it uses standard pops sticks. If you use a pops maker with custom sticks/holders, remember that you're going to have to collect them back from everyone later on.
I think I've used it 40-50 times by now, and it still looks like new.
But some of the low star reviews I've read, it's like they're talking about another product.
I haven't had any problems with sharp edges, slots being the wrong size, removing the pops, or cleaning it.

A few comments & tips - quite a few here, but all-in-all it's really pretty easy to use:

1. METAL EDGES (* * The new version has a plastic lid - reports are it seems to work ok) :

I'm not sure how (a few) people are deciding that there are sharp metal edges.
After reading about this I took the edge, and then the corner, and rubbed it up and down my cheek a couple of times - and nothing happened. I am a 6'-2" male, but I'm not made of leather either. You're definitely not going to get a good shave from it by any means.
So maybe the manufacturing is better now - I don't know - but I never had a problem with anything sharp - not even close.
In general the thing is very well made in my opinion.

I bought this a couple of months ago, with the express purpose of making fresh fruit bars - no chemicals or sugar. Just used it last night for the first time and I was super impressed.

I made three different small batches just to test it out: 1) blueberry/strawberry, 2) mango/pineapple, 3) strawberry/banana.

These were a total hit with the kids AND my husband. I am very glad to see the kids eating "popsicles" that have no chemicals, additives, dyes, sugar, etc. And the ease of use is great. All I did was dump frozen fruit (purchased from farmer's market and frozen by me) into the blender, a splash of something citrus for flavor, and a little milk or fruit juice and blend. Pour into molds. DONE.

Based on other reviewers' comments, I put them in the freezer for about an hour, and then inserted the sticks. Also based on comments, I sprayed the inside of the molds with nonstick spray, and also ran hot water over the bottom of the molds before trying to remove the pops. All went spendlidly.

Most famous kid comment: "Mom, I can't believe I am not eating any sugar - this is great!"

Edited 5/2/12: Oh Em Gee, so there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many possibilities with this new toy! Fruit is coming in at the farmer's market now, and the combinations are endless. A few mint or lemon verbena leaves from my yard add a lovely hint of mint or citrus to combos you never would think of. Grinding up a key lime with the fruits adds a lovely citrusy flavor, and vanilla yogurt (homemade) is my new best friend with these pops. I use this so much that I even thought about purchasing one of those new "pop" books, but mine have been so fabulous that I don't even think I need it.

The Norpro Icepop Mold is great & fairly easy to use. I read all the reviews before purchasing this product. I leave a half-inch between the liquid and the top of the mold, then freeze until slushy (about a half-hour in my high-efficiency freezer), put on the metal cover, insert popsicle sticks and freeze until fully firm. I remove the metal cover, run warm water over the mold, grasp the sticks one at a time (there's some suction and then the popsicles pop out) and put each on plastic wrap, then three to four in a zip-lock freezer bag, and store in the freezer. I'm ready for the next flavor combo and my family helps themselves to great popsicles throughout the day. Our last flavor combo was honeydew melon with cream and Tupelo honey - & chopped pistachios.

If you soak the sticks in water for about an hour before you use them, they won't float up or expand...making it easier to get them out of the tray after the popsicles are frozen. Enjoy!!

I read almost all the reviews and chose to order the Tovolo Groovy Ice Pop molds which I love, don’t get me wrong.

BUT!!!

In the back of my mind I wanted to still try these for they had 10 cups. I am not sorry I ordered them one bit, I am a person that likes a challenge and I knew I could find a remedy for the problem people were commenting on. I am now the owner of 4 sets; that is how much I love them. I do not use the lid where you put the sticks in, I freeze the mixture for 1-1/2 hours then add the sticks. I also found you can pop out the plastic cups from the frame first by filling each cup with medium hot water. This will soften the plastic just a bit so you can ease the cups from their tightly locked positions. When I am ready to fill the cups with goodness, I snap the 2 end ones in place on each end of the cup frame; the ends ones act as legs to hold up the frame then just place the 6 middle ones loosely in their holes to where they just dangle. This has served me well till I can get to the hardware store this week to get some narrow 5” long screws and create legs and attach them to each corner of the cup frame; this way I can have all 10 cups hanging loosely. Then all I have to do it take each cup and run warm water over them one at a time.

At first when I got them, I kept the cups in their locked positions; I tried at first to warm them all at once but by the time I got to the 3 one to remove the pop they were way too soft and melting by the time I got to the 10th one. So by doing it the way I am doing it now, I just handle one at a time which keeps the others freezing cold. FOR CLEANING; being able to remove each cup from the frame makes handwashing a breeze.

Where there is a will there is a way.
