Works pretty well. Seems to clean out grooves better than shorter bristle brushes. Soaking brush helps in cleaning off "gunk" rather than just wiping. Definitely will get another when this one wears out.

This review if for Hoppe's No. 9 Phosphor Bronze Brush, .22 Caliber Pistol.

The brush arrives in a retail card package just like you see at the big box stores. It's like the picture except the wires on the .22 brush are much shorter, obviously the one in the picture is a larger caliber.

The brush is 2-1/4 inches end to end, and hangs out 1-7/8 inch after you take the thread length off. The bristle part is 1-1/4 inch long.

The shaft and wire twist are made of soft aluminum so it won't hurt your bore. The caliber is etched into the base for easy identification.

I had to install the pistol thread adapter to use this with my universal Hoppe's rod kit. The brush threads were easy to spin by hand it tightened up well.

As far as performance goes, this brush isn't too stiff so it starts easy and it does a good job cleaning the bore. It's exactly what you would expect from a classic bronze bore brush.

Those considering this brush may also want to look at the Hoppe's No. 9 Phosphor Bronze Brush, .22 Caliber Rifle (ASIN: B0013R9WEE). It's almost exactly the same thing as this brush except the overall and brush lengths are longer.

To sum it up....
This brush works well and I would recommend it to a friend. That said, I personally prefer the longer rifle version (even for cleaning pistols) because I think the extra length makes it clean a little better and last a little longer.
