First off, I want to say that I am a finger player, I play in tunings from E standard to B standard but D standard mostly. I do not use a pick (may matter to the pick players considering these strings) and I have been playing bass for about 8 or 9 years and have tried a great variety of strings out there. D'addarios, GHS, DR, Rotosound, Dean Markley, so on and so forth. When I first started playing bass I wanted to try out a lot of strings just to find the perfect sound for me. I am a metal bass player mainly. I also play classic rock, blues, whatever. ANYWAYS, I recently bought a Schecter Stilleto Studio 5 bass. It came loaded with regular slinkys and I was super impressed. Before then I was a DR guy. They had awesome tone but didn't last as long as I needed. So I bought another pair of regular slinkys. Then I was starting to realize I wasn't getting a punchy high end on the regs. Also the "E" string was just a tad too.. I guess loose would be the word. You would think that the regulars would have a 105 on the "E" string but they have a 100.. weird. So I upped to these strings and wow did it make a huge bit of difference. Nice punch through crisp high strings and a nice fat warm crisp on the low. Not too bright, not too dull. They are incredibly cheap and they last a long time. I don't need to pop them in and out every month or 2. They sound good to me with any type of music. Hope this helps. Thanks for reading.

As i titled my review, this string set is as good as the expensive ones, plus it has that particular punchy, fat, clear sound that everyone loves. I am not only a bass player but also a string dealer. Because of this I had the opportunity to test a wide range of brands, materials, gauges, etc. Ernie ball have something that the other ones don't. Give you the opportunity to check it!

Used these for my Epiphone EB-0 which is a short scale bass and I was afraid that the strings may not fit but they DID fit and fit great. Sounds very good and nice action on the strings.

I play rock/Metal. I think these strings are the best balance between quality and price. Highly recommended.

I put a set of these on a cheap Chinese bass. Wow, what a difference over the factory strings! These are great! The same Ernie Ball quality I expected after using Super Slinky guitar strings for over 30 years. These Rock! Made in USA too!!!

These strings add a wonderfully bright tone to any bass, both cheap and expensive. They can do wonders for the tone and clarety of one's bass.

Also, these strings feel great compared to competetors; they allow for easier bending and sliding.

Recommended.

I've tried everything from D'Addario to GHS, and even Elixir; nothing compares to the purple pack of Ernie Ball's. These strings are seriously heavy, and will help you achieve a really fat tone. Like the name implies, the Power Slinkies are -thick-, and all that extra meat makes it easy to pop and slap, or even throw in a couple power chords. If you wish your sound could be just a little heavier, these are the strings to get.

Unlike the guitar version of Power Slinkies, which complicate bends and can make chords more difficult because of the smaller gap between strings and the increased pressure required to produce a good tone, these strings are fantastic for any style of bass playing. If you haven't tried them yet, even if you think you really like the strings you're using now, you should give these a shot the next time you replace your strings.

These are nice, bright roundwound strings, but I prefer the regular slinky's to these. I like the bigger gauge on the higher strings. Overall though, I think the D'Addario strings are even better for the money. On Amazon, you can get two sets for around $20. They aren't as bright as the Ernie Ball strings though. So, if you want a brighter sound, these may be better. The D'Addario strings are smoother, cheaper, but a little less bright.

Expect about 3 months of great play and sound. You can use them for about 2 more and get OK tone. I would recommend that you change them after 6 months. Sound even better with active pickups and a bass amplifier that accommodates active bass guitars.
