Bought these so I don't annoy my neighbors too much. While hitting the drums comfortably, the volume is about what I'd like it to be. After testing for a few minutes, I see no sign of wear so far. I found rimshots to be incredibly easy with these; on the other hand, cross-sticking is impossible. A few complaints: They sound really "pingy" on the toms, which makes it so you can hardly hear a pitch difference between different toms. And when crashing cymbals, they are significantly louder than the drums (this will just take some getting used to). Overall, they're great so far.

Bought these for my husband who plays for our church worship. This allows him to "play normal intensity but reduced volume at smaller venues. The downside, you can't do rim shots." This is his second set. Would recommend for small space playing without having to modify intensity.

Great tools for son's drum practice. He wore the first set out so needed replacement. We did not look for anything else and re-ordered these Promark C-Rods. If our drum instructor suggest moving up to the next level Promark.

Besides being a drummer in a rock-and-roll band (with three exceptionally talented ladies! -- how cool is that???!!!!), I am also the percussionist for my church, at both services each Sunday. These rods are perfect for cymbal work, and also for snare beats, where sticks would be too much, but brushes wouldn't be enough. They are simply FANTASTIC!

They have a great grip and are made well. If you look at the diametrical measurements in the description, what I am about to say is not 100% accurate, but it is my impression. The Cool Rods give the impression of being half the size of the Hot Rods. In other words, the C-Rods are basically a smaller, thinner version of the H-Rods.

Like brushes, they should be played with a certain amount of finesse, meaning don't beat on them and expect them to hold up. On more than one occasion, I have seen heavy-handed drummers shred them and send pieces flying in every direction. They are not delicately made, but they are not for heavy pounding either. They will hold up only if you treat them like you want them to survive your session.

...you could consider each of the little twigs in these drum sticks a mini drumstick in its own right.
By that measure, this is an amazing deal.

I actually play the drums for a lot of children's theater, and these are life-savers. I once fought off a pack of wolves with these drum sticks and literally saved those obnoxious little actors' lives.

I tried a pair of these rods just to see what they were all about. I immediately liked the handle width, grip, weight, and feel of them. The length was a bit long for my taste so I sawed off about a half inch from the top. Perfect length...for me anyway. I liked them so much that I started to use them exclusively for practice purposes. The down side is durability. After continued usage they started to shred like dry spaghetti. Hurling splinters of wood all about the room. Even playing softly to "Easy Listening" style music...they shredded. They make other rods with larger dowels, unfortunately with larger dowels comes heavier rods and wider handles. I went through 3 pair in as many weeks...so I'm back to using other forms of practice sticks, but that's for another product review.

been using the ProMark cool rods for a while now, although the rods break and can't handle heavy practice, i still use them and promise my self to go easy on them, but it never really works!

the sound you get out of them is just exceptional, especially of you're practicing at home or in tight jam with bad acoustics.

highly recommended.
