I Hate You Morgan Spurlock!

I just finished rewatching this movie while introducing my younger daughter to it. It's every bit as informative as it was the first time around. And it is disheartening how little progress America has made.

But one thing you did accomplish: McDonald's removed SuperSize Fries from their menu. I hate you Morgan Spurlock! When my kids were younger, once a week, as a very special treat (and our only venture into fast food), I would swing by McDonalds and pick up one box of SuperSize Fries. That's it. Just the one item. Then I would take it home and it would be part of their lunch, the rest consisting of healthier options. Here's the thing, Morgan: all three of us could have lunch off of that one box of SuperSize Fries! When they eliminated that option, that was obviously no longer the case. To get the same amount of fries, I had to order (and pay for) two large orders of fries. That rapidly morphed into 2 Happy Meals (double fries, hold the burger, no soda) consisting of fries and a toy. You cost me a fortune! :)

Not fair to McDonalds - A hit piece that sends a message that America needs food police

Very disturbed that this movie has been labeled a documentary when it clearly is a manipulative story with an agenda to inflict negativity and hardship upon the McDonalds corporation, their employees, and the traditions of drive in fast food in general.

Anyone with half a brain knows eating too much McDonalds isn't good for one's health or body, so what exactly is this guy's point by eating McDonalds super sized meals every single day?? How many people out there in society actually eat that much McDonalds super sized meals anyway that frequently? Probably not too many.

Does modern American society have a serious obesity problem and are there too many people today who are over weight & unhealthy? I would say yes but exactly how much has McDonalds influenced that or is responsible for? I don't believe McDonalds or some other fill in the blank fast food franchise is totally to blame at all, it is all about people's own free market choices and free will ability to decide what food they want and how much exercise are they willing to engage in. It had felt watching this very slanted documentary that an agenda of politically correct food policing was needed to regulate, and monitor the diet choices and activities of regular everyday people.

A sort of "Anti-McDonalds" Communism or Fascism that was being proposed by those who created this hit piece in order to control people's lives, because people in America seemed according to them too stupid to make their own rational food eating decisions.

Personally I have eaten McDonalds, Wendy's, and Taco Bell on numerous occasions and I never became fat because I don't eat their food all the time, and I always continually exercise.Read more ›

Super-Size my grave

This film is so frightening. Morgan Spurlock eats only McDonalds for a month under many doctors and dietitians care. He is heathy at first but soon describes all of the symptoms of a junkie. Also, his health starts failing and I cannot believe he completed his mission. He was quite sick at the end and very depressed. His health had been compromised. The symptoms he described were like withdrawal. The "Super Size" in the title means that everytime he ordered, if they asked if he wanted it Super Sized, he had to say yes.

Being a person who no longer eats fast-food and haven't for many years, this made me realize how great an idea it was. Another sad commentary is on the youth of America, the interviews where so many descibed how many times they ate at McDonalds.

McDonalds, of course, refused to comment though he tried many times to make an appointment. The 6 1/2 year anniversary is a bonus section where he answers questions. This was just as good as the film.

INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE - BUT NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN

As a healthy eater, I've wanted to see this movie since it came out. It contains a lot of interesting information, particularly on public school lunch programs, but is not suitable for children. I wish there was a condensed "mini" Super Size Me movie that children could watch and become better educated on food choices.

As a nutrition teacher, I have watched this close to 50 times and enjoy it every year. In this education version, it takes out a few scenes and dialog that aren't appropriate for middle school and high schoolers. It also has an option to have interesting facts and definitions pop up on the screen. I believe there is some curriculum included on here. There plenty of lessons that go with this online as well. This price is so mug cheaper than through education catalogs. I'm in a new district that doesn't already own this video, so I decided to just but it myself. LOVE this documentary and it has gotten me hooked on Morgan Spurlock's other documentaries and tv series.
