As you would expect from Lisle tools, this is sturdily built and will likely outlive me. I still haven't had too many uses for it, but that's how it goes. I bought it for all the times in the past that it would've been useful-- just haven't had many lately.

This tool is extremely durable, but that's its downfall. While doing work on a 1967 Mustang, a 2007 Dodge Caravan, and 2006 F-150 this weekend, I could not get the tool to work on any of the electrical connectors I tried--the tool was simply too thick to fit. I had to resort to using a thin, slotted screwdriver. I purchased this tool specifically for these projects, since my vehicles are high mileage and the plastic tends to get brittle over time. I would recommend, but make sure it fits first. I would normally rate higher, but on three different vehicles it did not work. It makes me wonder what vehicles this was designed for and if there is a micro/mini version for my needs.

I bought this to help repair a car. It works well separating electrical connectors. It also works well in extracting body panel clips without breaking them.

Gadzooks there are a lot of difficult to remove connectors on vehicles these days and I'm smackdab in the middle of multiple repairs on a 1996 vintage GMC that is requiring multiple installations and removals of their necessary but frustrating latching connectors.
My poor little screwdrivers are wearing out the connectors as I pry and pry over and over again.
No more....THIS simple tool is helping me retain the latchability of the connectors, even with multiple removals ( and I mean LOTS and LOTS of operations).
IF I was a better mechanic and IF there weren't so many things wrong with this truck and IF this weren't a 1996 vintage (built in 1995) vehicle, I could probably get along fine with the little screwdriver solution. BUT...I'm not...it isn't...and I have another 1996 truck just like it that I maintain.
So this little gem is saving me beaucoup problems and preventing replacement of beaucoup brittle connectors.

The tool is a quality item that is well constructed and looks like it will last a lifetime that belongs in every mechanics tool chest. I have absolutely no complaint with the quality or construction but did note that the tool I received did not match the picture at the time that I made my purchase. My handle was grey instead of the advertised red. This does not detract from the tool's performance but I do find it unusual that Lilse would choose a dull color such as grey instead of a bright color that stands out. The grey acts as a camouflage if you drop it or set it down in your engine compartment making it hard to see especially if you are forced to fish it out from behind your firewall in the dark. The tool was a lot bigger than what I was expecting but that was actually something I liked. It will not help with all electrical connectors on every make and model but is a welcome addition to any troubleshooting tool chest. I would definitely buy again if needed but would select the easier to see red handled version that they used to make if I had the choice. Although not a necessity I have found that it is handy to have a second one of these on hand to use on a few stubborn connectors using one to hold the connector body in place and the other to hook and release the connector prongs. Not to mention the gazillion other uses under the hood when you need to push, pull or pry on a small part.

You might not need it but once, but it's a life saver if you do. Lisle sells these niche tools that make certain tasks sooooo much easier and this is definitely one of those items. It also is nice because if you take your time using this piece, you probably won't break those older & more brittle connectors most people destroy trying to use screwdrivers, picks, pin punches, etc. Even if it cost more, it would be worth every penny if you are doing any kind of wiring work on your vehicle so I'd recommend buying it BEFORE you start so you have it on hand and don't have to run to a parts store and get ripped on the weekend!

Have you ever wanted to choke the guy who designed the plastic brittle harness connections that take 3 hands to remove without snapping off the clip? This tool will bring peace between you and that guy.

This appeared to be the tool needed to disconnect under hood electrical connections. Seems like its designed right, but it just snaps the tabs off any connector I tried. Maybe works for your car, either way, cheap enough.
