I am a professional furniture maker and I was very impressed with these bits. The correct "107B" set, made in Austria, was shipped the first time. They cut quickly and the serrated edge seems to reduce blowout at the exit hole even if you don't use scrap to back up the cut. (See photo.) I bought the set to save money since I needed the 3/8" size and several of my old bits were damaged. I don't see any reason to buy a chinese set when this is available at this price.

I had previously ordered the Diablo equivalent of these Forstner drill bits Freud FB-100 16-Piece Diablo Forstner Drill Bit Set and I was dissappointed with the apparent less than stellar quality of the bits - so I returned them. These cost a bit more but they are the superb/quality bits I was expecting before and did not get. I used a couple of them on a piece of oak and Wow! - beautiful, perfect, clean holes every time. I expect them to last a long time but only time and use will tell.

I am a semi-pro furniture and kids toy maker. Its how I keep the wolves from the door. One particularly difficult job is to drill a coat rack pole with 5/8" hole with a 10-degree up angle.

It sounds tricky, because it is. I've used, for 2 years, a number of different brands forstner bits to accomplish it. Today I made four racks, 16 holes and used the Freuds.

OH. MY. GOD. It was perfection. No burrs, no tear outs, no difficult starts, no getting the wobblies as it dug the needed 20mm... the holes interested wonderfully in the centre. The pegs subsequently twisted in with a perfect sssccccreeeeee..... Music to my ears.... tight pegs mean no peg-sag in years to come!

WORTH EVERY CENT. BUY THEM.

These Made in Austria drill bits are worth every penny. The steel and production quality is worlds better than any Chinese made product. The sides and bottom of holes is incredibly smooth, even when using a cordless drill. Using these in a decent drill press would provide even better performance. Just be certain to keep the drill RPMs low when using the larger size bits. Highly recommended. The cost savings in purchasing the set is well justified, as the larger bits are $13/each or more in retail stores. Double check the packaging when they arrive, as the first set ordered had broken through the blister packaging and rattled against each other in the box; becoming damaged. The new set arrived in perfect condition, thanks Amazon!

You will not be dissapointed. MADE IN AUSTRIA.

These are the best bits I have ever used. I had a project where I had to drill 50 3/4 holes in Red Oak. They cut the last hole as good as the first. They take way less pressure to cut than my china bits. Edit, I have had these bits over a year now with a good bit of use. They still cut as good as they did when they were new. My rating is still 5 stars.

I have only bought inexpensive forstner bit sets in the past as most of the work was hobby based. Recently I turned the corner into the professional arena. I had a job which required me to drill several 1 7/8" holes through 1' white oak (wine barrel staves) white oak is one of the hardest woods there is and it will eat cutting tools for lunch, which it did with my "cheap" forstner bit. When my wife told me to buy this set I did not hesitate, well maybe a minute as this is absolutely THE most I have ever spent on a set of bits. But the first time I used them it was like a hot knife through butter!

I strongly recommend these if you do any sort of production work or work with any hard woods, yes they are expensive but they will be the last set of bits you will have to buy. They may need sharpening from time to time, but not after the first hole and after each subsequent hole!
