There are a lot of mix reviews on amazon and other websites regarding the Muttluks fleeced lined dog boots but living in NYC, I really need something for my dogs during their walks. The salt combined with the snow and cold is just bad news. I've used and liked 'Musher's paw wax' for milder days but even for extremely cold days or snowstorms, my dogs yelped and limped around... I took a chance and bought these as I heard Muttluks were the "Mercedes of dog boots".

I have a 9lb Maltese and a 8lb Yorkie. both of their paws measure 1.25" so I bought the ITTY BITTY, fits very well. The first time I tried these, I didn't tighten them enough and they fell off during the walk. After the 2nd use, I got the hang of it.

I think the trick to getting them to stay on:
1. FIT - follow muttluks measurement guides on their website
2. PUTTING THEM ON all the way
3. TIGHTENING THEM securely

Tip: Fold the fabric part down first on all 4 boots, down almost over the boot part itself. Then the paw should be able to insert into the nylon/leather area much much easier. You should be able to feel the tip of the dog's paw in the front, hold the paw/boot as you roll up fabric part. Tighten...I end up wrapping the reflective strip so that it ends up on the bottom of the boot (if that makes sense). Not like the photo where the end of the strip ends on the top of the boot, that would be too loose. Tighten more than you think you need to, it's not like you can really tighten it that much that it will cut off circulation.

Your dogs probably will walk funny but it WILL protect their paws. My yorkie walks slower in them and doesn't particularly love them but it works.Read more ›

These boots were a God send this winter with the polar vortex landing directly on my house and neighborhood. My wimpy little pug mix was miserable and took to lying to me and telling me that she never had to go to the bathroom because she didn't want to go out. When we were out there, she was limping and trying to hold all of her paws up while looking terribly pathetic. Luckily I'd had the foresight to research and order these boots so she got them mid-vortex and boy what a difference! She no longer limps or lifts her feet up, and although she still isn't thrilled about going out, she doesn't lie nearly as much. Also, they are super cute to boot (pun intended).

Some technicalities: you have to velcro them on pretty tight, but they stay on. As you can imagine, it takes a few minutes to put 4 boots on a dog (and in her case, a hoodie and a coat). They are worth the time when you can take your dog out to poop guilt-free though, and in my Sophie's case, she's very agreeable to wearing them. She actually only walked a little weird in them the first time and after that they didn't seem to bother her at all. Over all, an expensive purchase but sometimes you get what you pay for. Four paws up on these Muttluks!

Update: I added a video to give you an idea of how Sophie moves in her boots. Our other dog (who is way tougher than Sophie is) refuses to wear boots and I had to be carry him home just before I made this video due to cold toes. As you can see, she wasn't having any issues in the cold and snow. Plus, she's super cute (:

I did a great deal of research before buying these boots. I needed some kind of protective footwear for my dog, Tater, because we walk five times per day, and I wanted her to have the best boots out there. Even when the weather is disagreeable, she still needs to do her business! I wanted quality boots that would warm and protect her paws, and I was confident that I bought exactly that when I received these Muttluks boots. I followed the directions on the Muttluks website to measure and determine the size, and I bought the medium (her measurements put her right in the middle of the 3.25"--3.75" size range for the mediums, so I thought they would be a perfect fit). They appear very well made.

Well, it's been cold here, but recently, that cold got even colder. In fact, I believe a record was broken (or nearly broken) earlier this week. And so we aren't taking long walks for fun and exercise right now---we've been taking very quick, "business only" walks. Tater wore the Muttluks boots around the house for a few hours, and they performed perfectly and didn't seem to bother her at all, but the very first time she wore them outside, for a very short walk (less than a dozen yards on a cleared sidewalk), two of the boots came right off. I retrieved them, and decided that we must have failed to secure the Velcro tightly enough.

So the next morning, in the subzero temps and -25 wind chill, it was once again time for Tater to do her business. I was very careful to put the boots on perfectly. I put them on exactly as the instructions said and ensured that her toes went to the bottom of the inside of the boot. Then I tightened them as snugly as possible with the Velcro strap.Read more ›

nice and cozy inside. Might be hard to get on, but they are a little big and will allow for a bandage inside if a foot gets cut. Flexicle and I think will do well and stay on.
