I've been using Varathane products for many years and I love this stuff. It holds up as well as any solvent based clear finish and it is much easier to work with since it's water based. IMO worth the extra cost. Although I just bought a can of this at HD for $7.57, so Amazon is going to have to get more competitive on the price before I purchase any here.

I am a polymer clay artist and have found nothing that compares to this product for the finishing of my pieces. It used to be called Diamond Finish so there was some confusion while searching for it. But, I called Rustoleum and they advised me of the name change. This product leaves a beautiful, hard and glorious finish to my art, especially when pieces have been well sanded. I will continue to use this product as long as I get the same results!

I bought this to seal coasters. It is supposedly more heat resistant than acrylic sealer such that hot cup wouldn't stick to the coaster and leave a ring. The effect is okay. It still sticks to the coasters but does not always leave a ring on the surface. The real crappy part is the leaking of polyurethane from the nozzle when it is pressed. Have to wear a glove so the liquid doesn't get on my hand. And more than half of the times, it drips rather than mists, resulting in an uneven coating; thus had to add a few more coatings to correct it.

I used this Varathane to finish a guitar. I applied about 15 coats over the course of a few days, letting each coat cure for at least an hour per the instructions. Wet sanded to about 2000 grit, and then polished it up. It yielded a high gloss, clear finish, which looks as good as any nitro lacquer I've used. So far, it's holding up great. Cures to a hard protective finish. I plan on using it again. Just a note of caution - the first use I had inadvertently left the can in my garage here in Phoenix. The high temps (likely around 120 degrees) caused the clear to amber to a degree, but still performed well. I recommend using and storing at room temperature.

If you like to sculpt in bakeable, polymer clay, do yourself a *giant* favor, and use this to seal your creations. It isn't sticky, and I have yet to notice *any* issues after several months of sealing.
Previously, I tried the following to seal my baked, painted clay:
-Delta Ceramcoat Gloss Interior Varnish
-Sculpy clay glaze
-Krylon Sealer

...And each one of these got so sticky, especially once the weather got warm-it was terrible. I cringe when I think about it-lol.
I was desperate, and found a very helpful blog from a clay artist, who used the Rust-Oleum spray. I will *never* use another product.
Note: It isn't always easy to find in your area, even at nearly every hardware stores, so try getting it here. I was not disappointed. :)

This product did the trick. It was used on a piece of wooden furniture (a $16 thrift store special) that was used to house a record player. The item was about 6 feet long. The Rust-Oleum was used outside (strongly recommend using it outdoors with mouth - nose mask; the vapors are strong). The initial coat was basically a primer. After it dried, the second coat made a positive difference and covered the brown wood of the furniture

Love the Varathane products. I used this along with the brush on poly. The spray on was great for the interior of a dresser being turned into an entertainment center. It was tight trying to brush inside the opponent space and the spray did the trick. Awesome product!
