I had previously purchased several square panels from Auralex, with the triangular ridges. They worked great, but I wanted something that would cover more surface area. These larger panels certainly do that, but they also emit an almost unbearable odor. It's like a combination of plastic-y chemicals and dog urine, if you can imagine that. It's just horrible. And I've had these panels up in my music room for about 2 weeks, and it's still overpowering. I'm literally going to take them all down this weekend and just throw them away, after spending around 120$ on them. Very frustrating.

How other reviewers were not bothered by this is utterly beyond me.

Acoustic dampening kind of works but little better than orange foam or cork board. Whats worse is the smell, a cross between peppermint and a chemical spill...definately nauxious in an enclosed room. It has been more than a month and it still stinks up whatever room I put it in. If you have a nose on your face, your ears won't care the slight noise reduction. A towel or cork board worked much better for my situation.

The smell of this foam is so horrible as to render it unusable. If it did not have such and awful smell then I'm sure it would work as intended, but the smell is so bad that I can't stand to be around it. I even tried using extra strength Febreze on it but to no avail. I'd suggest looking for some other acoustic foam that has no bad smell.

In the interest of marital bliss, I located front and center home theater speakers in an enclosed wooden entertainment center. The arrangement is not acoustically ideal and reflections from within the center channel speaker compartment were muddying dialog. I ordered 4 of these panels to line the tops, bottoms, and backs of the compartments in the entertainment center. The sound is noticeably clearer and more spacious now.

The panels themselves are about as expected - flexible but not floppy - and I'm pleased with the quality.

They do have a slight odor if you sniff them, but the smell from 4 of these panels is not noticeable from a couple of feet away. I can imagine the smell being a problem if an entire room or wall were lined with these.

Curiously two shipped in separate clear plastic bags and two others unwrapped, but none were damaged in shipping.

I bought this product to create a "box" to help contain the noise my rock tumbler was making. I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment and this tumbler was so noisy it was simply not acceptable. I have the tumbler (which was very noisy) in the corner of my bedroom with all 4 sides and the top covered with these product. Yeah it stunk for a week or so as there is a smell, but it is no unbearable. After 10 days or so it mostly went away and the product works very well. There is almost no noise that escapes this cube I created. The staff of this marketplace is also very prompt and courteous. I highly recommend this product and this seller - and I rarely take the time to leave reviews!

I'm replacing foam from a Pelican briefcase. This foam does the trick. Inexpensive. Replacement foam costs from the original manufacturers are ridiculous. It cut just fine with a large sharp blade. There was absolutely NO chemical smell to it at all. Perfect. Arrived on time and in great shape.

Not too much to review... It absorbs sound at it is supposed to. Good material... Just don't let a dog pee on it cause the stink cannot be removed and your studio will really smell... lol

Does minimize some of the noise though I need soundproofing material lined on the inside of the washing machine to really kill most of the noise.
