We purchased this after multiple trips outside to unwrap the dog tether from the tree. We have a 70 pound dog who likes to run in circles around the tree outside. We have a large yard without a fence and were trying to find a solution for the dog wrapping his tether around the tree. In addition, we purchased a 40 foot tether to attach to this so the dog could have more room to run and also so he could come inside the back door a few feet to be put on and let off the tether during cold Iowa winters.

We have been using this for 3 months with the Boss Pet - Prestige 40ft Beast Dog Tie Out with Spring. We have only had to untangle him once--the tether got caught on something in the yard and the tree trolley wasn't able to work as it should. We use it multiple times daily and it works great. Our dog can run and run and the tether just goes around the tree on the trolley. This is a great product and works well with the larger tether we purchased separately.

Mixed feelings on this one. When we've tried putting any other leash around a tree, our husky breaks it within a month. We've had this for a month or so and it's not even showing wear - except for a little rust (or maybe just roughness due to lost coating?) on the latch that clips to the dogs collar. But the section around the tree doesn't stay securely closed. It's a screw-on system that seems to work itself loose every few days. I try to check it and tighten it periodically, but 3 times now, we've found our dog running around the neighborhood with the long cable still attached to her. I'm glad it hasn't broken. I have no better solutions. But I'll probably keep looking.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
This did eventually break. I can't recall now how long it lasted. Probably 4-6 months. Longer than most.

One of the BEST "gadgets" i have ever bought for my dog.

I was really very skeptical and the product has sketchy information that didn't answer all my concerns with the product. I bit the bullet and bought it anyway figuring it would probably be a cheapo piece of junk. NOT TRUE! VERY well made and does the job PERFECTLY!
DOES NOT tangle, , super eeasy set up. Large enough for a BIG DOG and last but not least.... Plenty large enough to use on most any tree. If your tree is too big it must be one of those huge State Park sized California Redwoods:).

I would recommend this product to my family friends, strangers trolling isles in the petstore and just about anyone who would listen.

I ordered this product with some apprehension because it wasn't clearly described, and there were even conflicting photos about whether it was 10 ft or 12 ft in length. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it includes a 10 ft ring cable (with in-line threaded connector) for placing around a tree or post, PLUS a 12 ft cable for attaching your animal to the ring cable. All of this is as depicted on the product packaging, but with poor detail. It is just what I need for my big dog, provided the cable terminations hold properly.

Best Invention Ever for doggies that love to escape the yard! The one caveat I would put here is that I have 2 little dogs that weigh 20 pounds each and the cable doesn't get pulled on very hard, so if you have larger dogs, you'll want to read the reviews from the customers that have larger dogs. Also, I'm a single mom and this was a piece of cake to put up. It's as simple as wrapping the cable around the tree and screwing the ends together! Some customers felt that the instructions were too minimal, but there's not much instruction needed, so they were fine for me.

The cable that wraps around the tree is covered in plastic so it doesn't harm the tree. It's also a very generous size, so with an average backyard tree, it shouldn't be a problem to wrap it around. That said, if you have a really large tree, I think if you buy 2 of these, you can connect them all together since one end screws into the other.

One customer said that the connector that screws the cable together that wraps around the tree is getting damaged from weather and such, so I wrapped duct tape around it to protect it just in case. But anything that sits outside is going to become corroded so that didn't stop me from buying it.

Since I have 2 dogs, I bought a no-tangle dual leash that I clip to the hook, and between this product and that, it's absolutely perfect. They have plenty of room to be run and be separate even though they're tied together, and they never, ever get tangled or wrapped around the tree. This is absolute heaven and I am extremely happy with this product!!!

Works great. This is the perfect length when we go camping and need to tie up our lab for a few minutes. It's build to last a lifetime and is the perfect length to keep a dog out of trouble for short stretches and still allow them to move around. Wouldn't recommend this for all day turnout, but it is perfect for my needs.

This trolley works great. We have a very excitable 50 lb Husky who takes full advantage of running in circles around the tree he is tethered too. Very rarely does he manage to tangle but on occasion when he moves slower it will wrap the tree. I definitely am going to be purchasing a second one for when we visit family.
