Tunes perfectly with my yamaha soprano recorders that my kids use in class.

Note that this is NOT the regular sized SOPRANO recorder....this is a SOPRANINO.....it is very small and has a higher sound. If you are looking for the one most elementary kids use, you are looking for a soprano recorder.

Ignore reviews that complain about size...they just didn't know what they were buying!

Had a pear wood entry level Sopranino for years and was never satisfied with its intonation. The first position hole on the Yamaha is a single large hole so rolling the finger is required to get the halftone, but with the close finger positions of a Sopranino it is placed over to the right and makes fingering a delight.

For the price (I also got free shipping), the pitch and intonation produced by this sopranino is amazing. I've owned a variety of Yamaha recorders for years but this one reaffirms the quality and economy of the brand. As this is a sopranino. Expect this to be small and look through the measurement in the Product Description if you have larger hands. The whole instrument is less than 10 inches long. Lower F hole is a single hole. While it's positioned well enough to the right, it is not easy to play the #. The upper part of the second octave is hard to get, but that probably has more to do with the technique than the instrument.

Good, sweet tone, accurate intonation. The distance between the finger holes takes some getting used to, and players with large hands would likely find it difficult, but that's true of any sopranino. Not a recorder most people will play every day, but this is a completely professional instrument and a really terrific value.

I keep losing these when I go out to perform. Hopefully I won't do that again. This little recorder is top-notch. If you can squish your fingers in enough, you'll have an almost-piccolo. Beautiful sound, as with all the Yamaha recorders, and very durable!

It's a great little recorder! It's easy to play even with my big hands, although I wish that the low F hole was a double like the g/g# holes, as is seen on soprano/alto recorders. It's a good recorder even being a lower end one, but i would recommend this for anyone looking for a sopranino.

as described, great Yamaha product, our family has a ball with it, our daughter turns 3 this summer and like music a lot, it is fun for her to use. Product so good we purchased two for our family. Hard for me to play with big hands.

yamaha makes decent recorders, even low end ones. the ad says mistakenly that it is in the key of F. recorders don't come in keys, they come in tonal ranges that include all notes including sharps and flats within a two-octave range (+ one full step). sopraninos, altos and bass recorders ranges are from F to G (the G is two octaves + one scale note higher.) Soprano (descant) recorders and Tenor Recorders range from a C to a D two octaves + one scale note higher, including all semitones in that range, meaning that ALL KEYS can be played on the recorders. Since the ranges start at F on some recorders and C on the others (as stated above), they sometimes are referred to MISTAKENLY as being in the key of F or the key of C. fingering for particular notes is different on the "F" recorders from the "C" recorders, but ALL MUSIC KEYS can be played on them.
