Cheaper but not worth it

Even though this roller is 'Made in USA" it is poorly made. It has no raised center flange on the side of the roller to act as bearing surface. The result is that the outer edges of the roller end up scraping against the metal frame. This makes for a poor feel and scraping sound when rolling and it leaves scraping dust on the metal. The handle is unfinished and feels rough in the hand. Also there is no metal collar to secure the metal frame in the wooden handle. The 1 inch diameter roller is too small to have a good 'rolling feel' when pushing and pulling; it makes you feel like your fingers are too close to the work. Spend 2 or 3 bucks more and get a 1-1/2" roller with flanges on the sides. If you are using this roller once or twice a year it may be fine but it if you want a good tool to use often look elsewhere.

Very poor design and quality makes it inoperable.

Wow. Complete junk. Applying any pressure whatsoever on the roller makes the wooden roller/wheel pop out of its frame. When it doesn't pop out, the wooden edge catches on the unfinished "made in USA" frame edge and digs in preventing it from rolling! I bought it because it was cheap. Now I know why. It doesn't just work poorly, it doesn't work. Spend more money and get one that actually works. I'm sorry for the very negative review but it deserves it.
