A few years ago Universal (MCA/DECCA) released the 1967 Brenda Lee album "Reflections In Blue." I was very impressed with the impeccable packaging, the likes of which I have never seen. In addition to the quality production the sound quality was primo.

Along comes the latest release from the same company of Brenda's classic album ..."let me sing." I was delighted to pay the huge price anticipating another quality product. Upon receiving the disc I noticed the same quality packaging. The company even managed to reproduce the original Decca label with the distinctive "rainbow" band. Pretty impressive! The big disappointment was popping the disc in my player to hear a washed out monaural version on all tracks. What was this record company thinking? I would have preferred less slick packaging for a stereo version of this great LP. Was somebody asleep?

The only hope is that the scheduled release of this LP from ACE Records in 2006 will not repeat the mistake. So far ACE has done a really great job with it's series of Brenda's first 10 albums.

"Break it to me gently" & "Losing you" ` Brenda's hits among a great group of all time classics.
Brenda's interpretation always breaths new life in these standards.
Most of this album is ballads and all these tracks are exceptionally good.

This album has a somewhat bluesy overtone & Brenda masterfully delivers.
"You're the reason I'm living" ~"Where are you?" ~ "I wanna be around" ~ "Out in the cold again" ~
and "At last" is exceptional.

The uptempo tracks here are the classic's ~ "Night and day" ~ "Our day will come" ~
and "When your lover has gone"

Side one
1. Night and day
2. The end of the world
3. Our day will come
4. You're the reason I'm living
5. Break it to me gently
6. Where are you

Side two
1. When your lover has gone
2. Losing you
3. I wanna be around
4. Out in the cold again
5. At last
6. There goes my heart

This is a great album of quality listening.

I have every Album Brenda Lee ever released in America, and this is one of my absolute favorites. In addition to two million selling singles, "Break It To Me Gently" and "Losing You" it has a slew of great standard including several Cole Porter numbers and a short but fantastic version of the Etta James classic "At Last". This is a fantastic album by one of the greatest female voices of all time. I don't necessary recommend buying this used vinyl copy...You can find this and another great Brenda Lee album both on one CD. It is an import from Ace Records in Britain and is available on Amazon, and the sound is superb.
