I love the looks and the sound of these mallets against our Remo floor tom-tom. However, it took only a couple of days for my 3-year old to dislodge the end from one of the mallets while playing. After laboriously removing the fabric to re-glue the foam head to the stick and refastening the fabric, the same thing happened.

Now.... I am sure there are going to be people reading this who will think (or comment) that we should be standing behind our son at all times guiding him to play gently and respect his drum and mallet, and if you are one of those people, feel free to ignore my review. If you have a child who is enthusiastic about music and sometimes gets a little carried away, you might want to find an alternative to this product.

After one year the children haven't damaged the mallets.
I've seen cheaper mallets and this isn't one of them.

I bought the grandchildren a Remo drum for Christmas. I bought this Mallet not knowing the drum I purchased had two identical mallets with it. I did not return this mallet because i figured one of the other Mallets would get lost or broken. Not so. My grandchildren play very hard with their drum and mallets. Excellent toy drum and excellent mallets. I think Remo deserves 20 stars for their products. I have purchased a few different musical drums and mallets from this company. They just make a great product overall. I recommend anything made by Remo .

I bought these to use with tambourines with jingles, thinking that I could strike the drum head and not get the jingle sound. It didn't work. These mallet heads are about the same as a finger. They will not give a hard, clear sound on, say wood or even on a drum head. I imagine these would work well on a surface which has its own means of producing sound, such as a xylophone or glockenspiel. Long and the short of it is know the sound characteristics of your materials before ordering these.

Quite different from the others, like the sound on tongue drums or other wooden drums and I have purchased several of them to give to my drumming friends for birthday presents.

I keep two of them for myself as I have a lovely tongue drum and prefer the sound these mallots make to the rubber-ball mallots or harder mallots.

Perhaps I had my expectations to high but dang it, drilling a hole in a hard rubber ball and gluing a stick in it.. It does work well with the Remo Fiberskyn drum but not so much with my natural hide hand drums

I bought this mallet because I thought the Remo Floor Tom Tom Drum only came with one, but it turned out to have 2. It is nice having the extra mallet. The mallets are great on the drum, but soft so if my one yr. old beats on other things there isn't damage. The mallets are good quality, and well made.
