I replaced my old 1750 watt inverter with this new Cobra 2500 watt unit. I was disappointed to find my old remote switch (from the other inverter) did not work, even though the plug and wire were the same. So I ordered this one made for the Cobra and VIOLA. Works like a charm. In fact, it's even better than the old one because I don't have to first turn the master switch on (on the inverter itself) in order for the remote to work. So, I'm totally satisfied with this switch.

This product is very useful and convienent for turning on or off a cobra inverter that is in the trunk of a vehicle. The cable attached, is long enough for placing the remote swich in a location that meets the users needs. Power inverters can drain a battery after a period of time if left on and unattended especially when the vehicle's engine is off. To have a remote in a covienent location is a plus!

Wow, what a (bad) surprise. $25 for a switch and a light. The light is microscopically small (about 1/16" x 1/4"), but it didn't work anyway, out of the box. Unfortunately, I had this item on my "project shelf" for a while, past the warranty, so I'm going to have to fix it myself. One LED should not be too hard to replace. The switch does work okay - - however, it's a push-on/push-off design, so the light absolutely HAS to be operational or you have no idea whether the inverter is on or off.

Panel is nice-looking enough - - if they charged $15 and had a nice big LED so you could see it from any angle, it would be worth it. As-is, it's a bit of a rip-off, but sadly there is no alternative. If you want a remote panel for your inverter, design and build your own (pretty easy basic electronics) or pay Cobra their ransom and hope your panel works when you receive it. Better test it before the 30 days are up.

I was putting a system in my RV for dry camping and this works nice to turn inverter on and off from inside my RV. It's basically a phone cord and easy to route and install. Looks nice too and is a very slim design with nothing sticking out to run into. Very Nice!!

I bought this unit and installed it at a cabin for turning our Cobra inverter on/off.

I wanted to mention something that I didn't see in any of the other comments: the hole spacing on this remote switch is NOT the standard spacing of a receptacle/switch/etc. The holes are wider than the standard outlet box spacing. I don't know Cobra's reason for this; they could have made it standard. The instructions include a template if you were mounting it to a wall; but they could have just as easily made the hole spacing standard and still provided a similar template. Anyway, I ended up drilling two holes at the right spacing so I could mount it to a PVC outlet box mounted to a wall in a covered porch. It was relatively simple to do, and I was pleased to find out that the unit is made out of aluminum; not just some cheap plastic panel.

We'll see how long it holds up, although I don't expect it to be turned on and off more than 30 times per year. So far, so good.

And yes, as one other reviewer stated, the LED is not very easy to see during the daylight hours. The Cobra inverters give an audible beep when they are turned on and off. That, in combination with checking whether you can turn a light on or not, tells you whether the inverter is off if you absolutely can't see the LED during the day. Not too hard.

It works as far as remotely turning on/off the inverter. Unfortunately it does not remote the inverter display codes or alarm sounds. So if something's wrong (low batteries, over current, etc) you still have to find and look at the inverter display which is in an inconvenient location. You won't hear the inverter alarm, depending on where you mount the inverter. I'm using this in a boat, with limited space, so the faceplate is rather large compared to what it could be, and there';s a big circuit board sticking out the back so that you have to cut a big hole where it mounts, I'm not a fan of cutting big holes in expensive vehicles for some electronic component that probably won't be used but a few years before it becomes obsolete. I've plugged it in and tested it, but haven't mounted it yet. In fact, I may not. Just on/off without indicating any other functions of the inverter may not be worth cutting the big hole in my boat.

We bought this thinking we had to have it for our higher power inverter. We did not need it. However it let us turn the inverter off and on from either side of the vehicle, which when you are using the inverter a lot for various things, it is nice.
Just want to mention. The indicator light can be hard to see during daylight as it is glowing through from behind the face panel. It is tempting to cut a hole around it.
