This amplifier is really a 40 watt amplifier with a peak output of 120 Watts. This is clearly a misrepresentation and the specifications are totally incomplete.

I took a gamble buying this without knowing a whole lot of info. It is a really good Amp/Mixer for small sound reinforcement PA systems. It has two 1/4inch mike inputs on the front and a selectable Phone or RCA input on the back. Perfect for a small bingo hut or auction house. I am using it to drive four 5 inch pa horns on the outside of a business.. and it works great. Good price. fast shipping.

OK, nobody is buying this amp because it's the best. But it IS cheap, and at least the one I received worked perfectly. It looks good enough to put on a shelf, and the volume indicator on the front is a good piece of visual bling.

My main objections to this unit are that the mic inputs are unbalanced on 1/4" jacks located on the front panel. I had some concern that with the relatively long mic cable I needed to use, I might start picking up the local radio station or general interference; happily, that was not the case, and with a quickie 1/4" to XLR adapter, the system worked perfectly. Others have commented that this unit does not approach the listed 120 watts, but is much closer to 40 watts; that's undoubtedly true, but it's also the cheapest available 40 watt amp with 70 volt outputs. The fact that it has 2 mic inputs as well as a front panel input for portable players - walkmen (remember walkmen?) or mp3 players makes for a nice install.

Would I rather have a Crown? Sure. And when Crown starts making similar units available for well under $100, I'll certainly go with them. Assuming this one doesn't die in the next year or so, it's great value for the money.

After shopping for Karaokes, I purchased this unit to amplify my son's voice (via mic) while playing the guitar. Didn't really need a karaoke. Unit has ample power with some to spare. I really like the design and controls. Only drawback was the speaker set-up, which really wasn't a big deal. Instead of connecting each speaker to connectors in the back, you connect one channel of each speaker to the unit (based on total Ohm resistance) and connect the speakers to each other with the other channels! Had never done that before, even with mono systems. It works though. Would recommend for amplifying up to 2 microphones. Good product at a good price.

I set up classrooms for an adult ed, preschoola and high schoola. This is my go to classroom amp. Paired with a couple $69 Yamaha indoor outdoor speakers mounted on each side of the projector screen. It is a good setup. Fills a classroom with sound. The units are basically indistructable and have been running for years. In the preschool we used to have those CD boom boxes die in less than a year from all the vibrations from kids bouncing around, these units have help extremely well. They can be left on for months without burning out. Put up with abuse extremely well.

We hook laptops, cdplayers and mp3 players to the back stereo input 99% of the time. We have also had teachers loose their voice and where able to plug a microphone into the front quickly to save the day.

The one piece that might be missing is some sort of floor based bass speaker. Which in a classroom environment is completely inapropriet because those things send base soundwaves through walls on the floor into other rooms, causing disruption.

I recomend this amp to many people. Ive purchased 30 of them so far and have not had any fail.

PROS: Looks nice, didn't smoke when I plugged it in.

CONS: Worst problem is the amp produces a high pitched whine on the speakers after the amp has been on for about 30 minutes. I'm running two 8 ohm speakers in parallel and I'm using the 4 ohm and COM terminals. Removing all the mic plugs makes no difference. Adjusting the output volume also makes no difference. Very annoying. Will be buying a different amp and tossing this one.

The first one I received had a high-pitched annoying hum which developed after it was turned on for about 5 minutes. I returned it and got a second unit, which did the same thing, so it went back as well. I checked the connections, ground, etc. and that was not the problem. Got a $400 amp from Bogen and it is doing the job nicely. This amp may be OK, but it did not work for my situation. Amazon was very gracious about the way the returns and the refund handled. I was very impressed with their customer service!

The AUX 1/8" input on the front is loose (with very minimal usage to date) and now I cannot plug in the AUX cable. No problem though as I also purchased a RCA male to 1/8" male patch cable for plugging in the iphone via the AUX RCA inputs on back.

This unit may be decent if you're going with PA horns or small speakers. I used this to drive two Kicker KB6000 speakers, which are rated for 75 watts RMS. Even with putting the PA205 at max volume settings for the mic input and master volume output, the speaker volume is not that loud. Furthermore, there is noticeable distortion present, which I'm guessing is related to the max volume settings. The same resulting low sound is similar for the RCA inputs (iphone). Before you tell me I have a bum unit, I bought two PA205s and they sound the same.
