A Kid's Review on January 17, 2007
Format: VHS Tape
This is the third movie in the hit Balto triology. A word of warning this movie has some mildly intense cartoon action seqeunces in some parts of it that maybe to intense for young kids under the age of ten. In Balto III wings of change young half wolf dog is leding the sleed dogs again. This time it's in a thrilling race to decide who will diliver the mail to Noamo the sleed dogs or the airplane. Your father charaters such as Boris the goose Jenny and those two wacky polar bears are back in this epic movie. Also in this movie are some new characters balto's son Kodo, and a beautiful female goose named Stella. Like the first two balto this movie has increbile characters breath taking adventure seqeunces and beautiful enchanting musical numbers. Will Balto win the race find out in the thrilling conclusion. If you like this I also recommend balto 1 and 2 as well.

My 3 year old LOVES all the Balto movies. This one seems to be his favorite. He has watched it so many times that he practically knows all the dialog by heart. And it peaks his imagination to play Balto, culminating in trying to be a sled dog pulling his wagon in the back yard. Hope there's a Balto IV coming soon.

I purchased the three Balto animated movie dvds as a surprise for my three daughters for a long road trip. My girls are 10, 9 and 6. It was the easiest and most quiet trip ever. The girls watched each movie in order and when the last movie finished... we had arrived. Yeah!

Not very good. My 2 year old has been OBSESSED with Balto ever since finding it for $5 at Walmart. She has made me watch it every day for 10 days. I thought we would try some of the other Balto's just to add a little variety. Mistake.
The voices (of course) are new (the same as Balto 2) and many of the characters are drawn differently than the original. The story line showed A LOT of different perspectives. We didn't even make it half way through, before my daughter lost interest. There just isn't enough Balto in this third installment. Luckily, it was only $4! I would not recommend for lovers of the original. I'd rather watch "Balto" every day than attempt to watch "Balto: Winds of Change" again.

Unlike the previous review, I think this second sequel is a major come back to the themes of the original Balto.

Balto is about a half-wolf, who is also half-husky, you shouldn't forget that. And this sequel focus on the sled-dog side, which still was the major point of the original Balto.

The story is nice, no major problem except that Stella goose (who takes way too much of the screen time). I really liked that there are real people in Nome (we almost never see one human in wolf quest), and that the scenes mostly take place there. The animation is much better than the one featured in Wolf Quest (probably an higher budget), and the musics are really good, especially the race themes.

I would definitely recommend it, at least much more than the second one which was a disappointment to most Balto fans. This one is a must-buy for the Balto fans IMO.

I loved the original Balto movie when I saw it as a kid (I'm 23 now), and I've seen the second one (Wolf Quest) also (not bad either). I thought Wings of Change was not quite as good as the first one, but it was better than the second one. Sequels tend to not be made very well, and while it's not a perfect movie, it was a very good movie, and I thought it was very well made. I would have given this movie 4.5 stars if I could, but since I couldn't I gave it 5 stars.

Story:
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Wings of Change was quite entertaining. It was humorous at times, and it had nice story. The story itself does deviate from the wolf themes of the previous two movies, but I didn't mind that too much because the story was still quite good.

Characters:
I felt that it stayed true to the characters themselves. Balto felt like Balto. He was adventurous, and even when he doubts himself, he perseveres and does his best (just like the original movie). So, I was very happy with how he was portrayed. The new characters were funny and interesting. I was also surprised at how well they were portrayed. Balto's son was a likable character with flaws that made him interesting to watch and see him grow.

Animation:
The animation was quite good. The scenes and characters looked nice, and they moved very well. My only complaint is that the obvious use of 3D effects sticks out like a sore thumb at times, but it's not too bad, and it looks pretty decent. I know that the money it saved during production probably helped the movie get made, so I'm not going to complain too much about that.

Compared to the first and second movies, this one is not the great. I just didn't feel like the animation was up to snuff as the others and they tried putting in CG scenes that didn't fit in with the 2D drawings... Other things too... overall it's not the best Balto movie. You can watch the first and the second and skip this one.
