    I say somewhat large, but trust me, it's a good thing. This is big enough for an adult to use for a prop, although it may not be a true scale replica of what the actual movie prop would be like for a human. It's lightweight plastic, so it's very easy to carry around, although the downfall is that it actually looks plastic. Still, it worked great for me and I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for an accessory to a Gimli costume. Or if you're just looking for a battle axe prop, it works great for that too! Five stars would have been given if it looked a little more realistic.

    Very nice prop to be used with other costumes as well. My son love the axe and uses it throughout the year during his play. The axe is not too flimsy so it holds with my seven year old son. Unfortunately does not hold up too well against a puppy, so do not leave it outside or it may get chewed a bit.

    I originally purchased this as a costume prop for Halloween but my son has taken it over as a toy/weapon. He is brutal to his toys. Almost everything he has gets broken the first or second day, but this has managed to hold up extremely well for a long, long time. I'm honestly amazed because it still looks new!

    Ordered the Gimli LotR Axe and instead got a terrible looking executioners axe! What was sent consists of painted 1/2 inch PVC pipe that's about five feet long and a double-axe that must be attached. The axe's "blade" is painted silver and the paint started chipping almost immediately. Not satisfied in any stretch of the imagination.

    EDIT: Shipper quickly corrected error and sent the correct item. They even let me keep the wrong axe. Huge improvement in rating based solely on good customer care and quick responses. Item was exactly as described.

    I don't expect anything wonderful from a movie product. Plastic is to be expected. But this was a repackaged 'Executioner's Axe' with the tag still left on. It looks nothing like Gimli's axe, makes no pretense even to look like Gimli's. It's not official merchandise.
