First of all, I want to clarify that this rating only reflects my experience of ordering a replacement impeller for my Fluval U3 filter. Not for the filter or the impeller as products. The filter itself is a great product. I have it for a few years and it works wonder for one of my turtle tanks. I would have prefer to use a U4 filter for this 20-gallon tank. But the tank is too small to hold that model. The U3 filter requires more frequent cleaning because of its smaller size. During one of the cleanings I accidentally stepped on the removed impeller and broke 2 of the blades. Luckily the two remaining blades are opposite to each other so I could still use the filter just with less efficiency. I wanted to order a replacement impeller to restore the filter to its full capacity. When I received it I found two of the blades broken inside the package. And the two blades were adjacent so it'd cause vibration and loud noise if you use it. I had to return it for a refund. It's unfortunate that they didn't pack it probably and the product didn't survive shipping.
Another thing that bothers me is that the replacement impeller costs almost half of a new filter. And why can't Fluval sell replacement tip (the green plastic part with the blades) instead of making customers buy the whole impeller. Greed?

I thought I was going to have to buy a whole new filter but was able to get the part I needed. Saved me a lot of money. It was the direct replacement was easy to install. Just pull the old one out and slide the new one in.

I was turtle sitting for a friend for a few years while he was stationed in hawaii. The filter dies a little ways in and this was the required replacement. This piece lasted 3 years minimum and was the best pricing i could fin on the internet! I highly recommend this product and seller.
