This is a pricey piece of plastic. However, the plastic is very high quality (similar to a good prosumer DSLR camera), and the entire unit seems well-constructed. It literally took me a minute to screw it onto my desktop mic boom and mount an AT2020 mic onto it. This was the new (May 2013) AT2020 USB+ mic which has the "Com-Mic" dial and headphone monitor dial (as well as the headphone input) built into the mic. I was concerned this older shock mount might cover up or impede access to those recently-added dials, but I figured I could return the unit if that was the case. There was really no way to know unless I tried it myself. The shock mount does hide a portion of the painted logos identifying those two dials, but the dials themselves are still easy to access, and so is the headphone input. And as other reviewers have said, this mount eliminates a LOT (not all) of noise transmitted from bumping the mic stand, tapping (or cat jumping onto) the desk, etc. I'm very pleased with it. The 1-star deduction is because of the high price...it cost nearly half the price of the mic itself! By the way, it is NOT "19 x 16 inches".....that's a typo. It's roughly 4" x 4" x 1 1/2" h (VERY compact for a shock mount) with a 2" extension that attaches to a mic boom or stand.

Works as it should, often find it difficult to find pictures that are usefull on reviews, I hope this one helps! This product is pricy for the plastic you get, it is nice plastic and it works. I bought this because it was the most compact of all shock mounts available for the AT2020, I would recommend this product!

This is a great shock mount, it's smaller than expected, and fits the Audio Technica AT2020 perfectly. Plastic feels nice... Would buy again, and would recommend to friends.

I own another shock mount that would have been good if it didn't interfere with the foam windscreen that I have on it. The other mount felt more rugged and stable than this product, but this one does fit like a glove with the AT2020USB. It doesn't feel like a premium product, but it looks like it'll be more than enough to last a few years.

So after reading many forums and product descriptions...for my AT2020, this was the designated shock mount...all other shock mounts needed to be fidgeted with...I didn't want to do that...so oh well, dropped 70 bucks (same price as the microphone) just to make sure I protect the mic. Solid material and quality, just pricey...

This Microphone Shock Mount is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Skip the AT2020 Microphone, since for a few extra bucks, you can get the AT2035 microphone kit and you'll have a very nice microphone with better options, a Corinthian leather case and this mediocre shock mount thrown in. To be honest, I felt like this was the one part of the AT2035 kit that needed improvement. It's simply molded plastic and isn't the most dependable mount you can own. The plastic knob doesn't give you the needed torque to tighten the mic down solid. If you exert any pressure on the mic after it's been tightened down, the mic will tilt and you'll have to re-loosen the knob, re-position the mic and re-tighten it, hoping you don't snap the plastic in the process. Don't even try using a pop filter that attaches to this mount. It'll be too heavy. Just get a pop filter that attaches to your microphone boom (i.e., the On Stage ASFSS6 GB Dual Screen Pop Filter.) For the price they charge on the AT8458, Audio Technica could have used aluminum and still made off like bandits. As it stands, the MSRP on this thing is $104 (according to Audio Technica's website.) There are better mounts out there that cost a third of what you pay for the AT8458. I'd strongly consider buying one of those before shelling out the $65+ (retail) on this one.

The shock mount functions perfectly well, it grips my AT2020+ just fine, I dont feel worried about it falling out, hung upside down.
I dock a star for price. The mount consists of 3 cast plastic parts, a few elastic bands and some bolts. I suspect they are amortizing the mold costs, but excepting the inner portion, the rest is/ought to be common to other mic mounts they sell.

I only bought this one versus the $20 mounts available since i was worried about dealing with compatibility with other mic stands, and the orientation i keep it mounted would be a catastrophic loss of the mic if it wasn't properly secured.

That's pretty much it...The shock mount works well with the AT2020, and keeps random vibrations from affecting audio quality while recording.

Not much more you can ask for, right?
