What more can I say...
I have used the Weldwood "Contact Cement" for over 50 years. My first semi-big project using the Weldwood Contact Cement, was making a small dog house, about 1966, using only plywood, some cut-up tire inner-tube, and a few small sticks: No screws & No nails.

I tried the "Gel Formula" about 8 years back, and totally knew that this was the formula for me; no more dripping, as it is like a thin paste. The Gel formula is especially great for small projects where I need more control.

I still use the "regular" formula for larger jobs, where a large brush can be used.
- I would suggest that every household should have a container, and the building & repair trades should have a container of each, Gel & Regular, and a few extra "acid" brushes.
- Note: A small metal or rubberized spatula can be used to spread the Gel formula.

After some research I was referred to this product. I needed to apply a heavy vinyl to my headliner in my car. The spray stuff even the heavy duty vinyl spray adhesive did not work. It started to sag after a few months. So far I see no sign of separation since I applied this product.and I highly recommend getting at least a quart extra than what you think you need. You almost have to double up your square footage plus an extra quart.

I wish I knew about this product years ago. The gel formula sticks just as well as the traditional, but spreads very smoothly with a short nap roller to keep lumps from telegraphing through your surface material. Necessary if applying veneers. Strong and permanent hold. Because the adhesion is instant once you make contact between the prepared surfaces, the need for vacuum forming machines is not needed. Just use a carpet tucking tool or a small flat wood block to smooth the surface of whatever you are applying.

I have been doing fine carpentry for over 40 years as a hobby, and have always found Weldwood Contact Cement to be the very best that I could find. I've worked on everything from putting putting down a new laminated finish to joining wood together, and nothing has ever beaten this product. I am also an artist, and for the longest time, I have used an artist's grade paper cement to mount my paintings to chip-board (a very thick, durable poster board), but I've found that unless I frame the painting immediately, the paper cement is not strong enough to keep the painting mounted permanently to the chipboard. I hesitatingly thought of using Weldwood, but put it off for a while. Finally, my curiosity got the better of me and I ordered a small bottle of this contact cement. I was quite worried about whether any of it would seep through to the painting. I need not have worried because I use a very heavy artist's paper and the cement didn't go through at all. Now my paintings that I haven't gotten around to framing yet, are holding tight to the chipboard with Weldwood. Thus, I ordered the quart size so that I would have enough for my art work AND my around-the-house tasks. It's great for so many tasks! I can already see that its use will go beyond just mounting my paintings. Just be sure to work in a cool room with plenty of ventilation.

Peeling plastic laminate from HEAVY wooden sliding door would cost $2000 to replace door or >$200 for contractor repair or <$20 to re-cement.
After removing (carefully saving) plastic, sanding and drying door and plastic laminate, gel was easy to apply WITHOUT removing door.
Following instructions, carefully aligned pieces, pressed in place and DONE (couple of hours) .Not counting the value of my labor (retired=$0) the value of this product is really obvious. Think I'll stick with it.

if you buy this to make sure a few scraps of leather will adhere to some wooden oars, you will discover that it does work great but that you will have purchased approximately 100,000 times more product than you will need.

I bought this to glue new soles onto my Birkenstock sandals - it worked great and has held up to month's of walking in all weather. I'd use this again. It does have a very strong odor, make sure you use it outdoors or in a well ventilated space away from children.

I needed to repair the vinyl on the inside of the rear door of my Volkswagen. I was going to try spray adhesive until I had a brain fart to look in to contact cement. Saw a review where somebody used contact cement for a headliner. So I used the contact cement in the center and hot glue along the edge. It is working great. I am looking forward to using this on other projects.
