I bought a Theratherm Moist Heat Pack for my wife, at the recommendation of a Physical Therapist friend, for her back pain. When it says "Moist Heat", it really means it. She can set it for a 30 minute session, and it really delivers moist heat, just like the moist heat packs in a Physical Therapy or Chiropractor's clinic. The moist heat really sooths her back pain, and now we have two! I had to get my own.

I have had major back problems for several years. So, needless to say, I know all about lower back pain.

I have tried other heating pads, some with dreadful results- Burns and blisters from pads that cook your skin.

The TheraTherm Digital Moist Heating Pad is the best heating pad I have ever experienced. The temperature control lets you raise the temperature two degrees at a time, as opposed to a pad which only has a low, medium or high setting. A couple degrees can be the difference between too cold and medium-well done!

The timer prevents overexposure if you happen to fall asleep, lose track of time or happen to walk away and leave it on. It can be set at up to sixty minutes, and then it turns itself off. That is a wonderful safety feature!

I like this heating pad so well, not only do I have one at home for "my spot" on the couch, I bought a second one for my desk chair at work.

This could possibly be one of the best investments I have ever made. I am 100% pleased with this product!

At first I loved this heating pad because it just seems so well made..heavy...comfortable...smart thermostat...etc. Well, after going through 2 and having the same thing happen (faulty wiring causing short in controls) I'm back to using a really REALLY old heating pad that I hate - but at least it is reliable and functions.

Having GERD I often suffer from stomach discomfort. I've tried every heating pad out there to find one warm enough to really help. TheraTherm has it all. Digitally monitored and user controlled temperature is a wonderful idea. If it's not quite warm enough at a certain temperature, I can raise it with the touch of a button. User controlled moist heat! What a concept. It's great. I love it!

This heating pad seems to be substantial compared to a brand like Sunbeam. However after using pad for a period of time the digital control started acting differently and so did the pad. Upon taking the cover off and inspecting the pad as the manufacture recommends before using each time, I found a burned hole through the pad the size of a quarter. I realize the dangers of this heating pad. I do not recommend this heating pad. Unfortunately I have not read any consumer reports pertaining to this problem. Buyer beware and user use at own risk and if you do use it follow manufactures directions and inspect each time it is used.

This is the third TheraTherm pad I have owned. Both of the others died after about a year...the place where the control panel attaches to the wire pulled out....however, I use it almost on a daily basis, so I thought maybe that contributed to the decreased life expectancy of the item. This time I actually had previously ordered another brand of heating pad which was supposed to be 14" x 14", and returned it because the dimensions well exceeded that size (I need the small size), and my previous TheraTherm pads had been 14" x 14" (as stated on the label and in the description). Imagine my surprise when I received the new TheraTherm pad and discovered that it, also, now exceeds the 14" x 14" dimensions. Also, the control panel has been completely changed. (It would appear that TheraTherm has been bought by DJO Global, and there have been changes made to the product.) It took me a while to master the use of the control panel, but even now I find it very frustrating because I have to hold the "lock" button down firmly for more than the stated 3 seconds before I can change either the temperature or the time settings, and I have to hold each button down for several second every time I make a change. It is very frustrating...on my previous TheraTherms I could increase or decrease the temperature and time by hitting the "up" or "down" buttons, not having to fool with a "lock" button first. The only reason I have kept the pad is because I recently had surgery, I need a heating pad, and I just can't deal with doing another return at this point.

This heating pad is amazing. It's quite expensive but in my opinion worth it. I had gone through cheaper pads before but some had either died on me or didn't get hot enough. This one has stood the test of time.

I had surgery on my spine to remove a disc in early 2009 and I live with constant back pain, but compared to what it was pre-surgery it's nothing so I don't really complain. Some days I wake up and I'm fine, others I wake up and can barely move, walking like a hunchback. On the latter days I turn on the heating pad which sits on my large leather chair and after a few minutes it reaches its set temperature of 150°F. Within about ten to fifteen minutes the pain in my lower back subsides.

When I first received the item I used it at the maximum temperature which is 167°F and although it's only a difference of 17°F it was so powerful it scorched my back so I had to lower it. This thing is a beast. You can set the timer anywhere between 1 and 60 minutes after which point it will auto turn off. At first it bothered me but now I think it's a blessing. Turning it back on is no huge issue and this really shouldn't be used hour after hour anyway. Plus if you get up and walk away you don't have to worry about burning down the house.

If it gets too hot (177°F or so I think?) the device will beep several times and shut off - again, a fantastic precaution against burning down your home. Plus when you turn it on again it remembers the last settings you had, both for the time and temperature. All I do is hit the green button to turn it on and off. However, if there is a power failure you will need to set the time and temperature again but this isn't a big issue.

I purchased this item in July of 2014 and it's still going strong. I have had no issues with it.
