With 1,500 watts of heating power, Black & Decker's D2030 Digital Advantage Iron displays temperature settings, actual temperature and fabric settings for customized ironing of a wide variety of materials. A step up from conventional, digital-display irons, the D2030's mini LCD monitor features back lighting for easy viewing. A motion sensitive auto-off mechanism keeps the house safe and offers peace of mind as the car pulls out of the driveway. More great features: audible temperature-ready alerts, auto cleaning, spray mist, plus vertical/variable and surge steaming. 5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Rowenta! Hands down!, July 19, 2005
By dlb (WI) - See all my reviews
I have owned Kenmore Irons, and a top line Rowenta that was recently dropped - replaced by this B&D model. It holds more water than others, there is no gimicky controls - very basic - press the button for the right textile setting and go. The sole plate is smooth - steam is powerful. I iron all my jeans - most come out of the dryer with hard creases - this iron presses them all out. Delicate items - poly and blends - no melting! My old Rowenta melted everthing it touched - and then the $15 cleaning kit was a hassel with Rowenta - not to mention all the spitting from the steam holes. Black and Decker has made a fantastic iron that well worth the money! Don't hesitate - just buy it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Really good iron but..., July 29, 2006
By DWilliams (Wind Lake, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This iron does a really good job of ironing but it has a major design flaw. The cover over the water well breaks really easily. I had read reviews before I bought it where people stated they had the same issue. Like a dummy I figured they were just rough with it and was sure it wouldn't happen to mine. I was wrong. The third time I used it, although I was very careful, the piece that holds the cover shut broke off. I have to fill it and tape the cover down with masking tape. It's a real pain. And water still leaks out of the water well all over my clothes. You would think a company like Black & Decker could come up with something better than this. I'd be willing to pay more to have a better cover. 5 stars for ironing power and ease. 2 for design.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Value, October 18, 2005
This will be a short and sweet review. As a guy I hate ironing, but find it necessary to keep the work shirts and pants looking good. This iron heats up very quickly, glides easily and has an incredible shot of steam that would please Tim Allen, "Argh, argh, argh". My sisters $120+ Rowenta has nothing on this baby.

Bad luck or this is the way irons "tend" to work? I've owned this model (2030) for two years. My new present iron stopped working after 9 - 12 months. Read more

Simple iron. Easy to use. Stainless steel sole plate is great. I've only had it a few weeks, so I don't know about reliablility. Consumer Reports recommended it.

This iron is very easy to use. Wish it stayed on longer then 10 minutes before auto shut off went into action. Beats my two rowentas. Better buy then Rowentas.
