Both of our beagles are terrified of thunderstorms and fireworks. One of them would hyperventilate, her heart would race, and her entire body would shake uncontrollably. The vet was afraid she'd have a heart attack during one of her panics. She initially prescribed a tranquilizer. The tranquilizer worked, but left the dog in a horrible state for 10+ hours (staring at the wall, unable to sleep, drooling uncontrollably).

We expressed our dislike of the tranquilizers, and the vet suggested we try ProQuiet. She gave us a few pills to try, and we used them during the next storm. We were so impressed with the results we immediately bought a bottle from Amazon.

ProQuiet helps both animals stay (relatively) calm during even the worst thunderstorms, fireworks, etc. And all without the nasty side effects of the tranquilizers. To top it all off, ProQuiet is much cheaper per dose than the Rx meds, and the vet tells us it is safer, too.

Most times the dogs will take the pills right out of our hand like a treat. Each pill is pre-scored if you only need a half-dose (which is often enough for them), and you can actually break them cleanly and evenly in half without a pill cutter, using only your bare hands! We even successfully used ProQuiet to keep one of the dogs calm when they were on vet ordered "bed rest" following a severe back injury.

Excellent product at an excellent price.

Our dog trainer recommended this for our dog, who is highly anxious during the day and was destroying our house and chewing on electrical cords while we were at work. We had tried everything, including crating him during the day and he hurt himself trying to get out of the crate. We have been using proquiet for 2 months and we have not come home to anything chewed or ruined in over a month. It definitely calms him down, but does not put him to sleep. It just helps to take the edge off during the day when we can't be there. I was very skeptical when it was first suggested to us, but we have had such great results. I would recommend it to anyone. Our dog is 50# and 1 tablet seems to be the right amount for him, although we were told we could safely double it and also that we could cut the tab in half if it made him too sleepy.

ProQuiet works well for our lab-mix who developed a fear of thunderstorms around age five (she's now 12). We don't know why. Our vet recommended it to us and said it would be like "a turkey sandwich and a beer" for our girl. Our dog predicts the weather about 45 minutes in advance, so around that time we give her half of the tablet, sometimes a whole one. She does not have a discriminating palate and will eat anything, so that's not a problem for us. The effect is that she settles down and is able to relax as the storm passes over. We've been using it for about four years and are just now at the end of the bottle. Ordering another bottle with hopes that our girl will be with us another four years!

It seems that many have had great success with this product. However, I've observed that dogs are just about as individual as humans, in their response to certain substances/medications.

I just rescued a dog who was so stressed when I brought him home. He had lots of baggage. He had been picked up on the street, wound up at the city pound, and was within a couple of hours of euthanasia, when a no-kill shelter did a pound sweep and took him for placement.

After everything he had already been through, he was neutered the day I picked him up, so he came home with a lampshade on his head, too. While we had hit it off at the shelter, when I got him home, all he wanted to do was flee. He was looking for any escape route, to the point of exhaustion.

I had ProQuiet available from my previous dog (gone to the bridge) and decided to give it a try. While it had helped my Shiloh Shepherd during thunderstorms and fireworks, etc., there was only a minimal response with my new rescue. Considering that I had any response, at all, with the degree of my dog's stress level, is why I'm awarding three stars.

I took my new friend for his 'Wellness Visit' to my own Vet, as per adoption contract. While there, I picked up 'Composure,' and the Vet said that if that wasn't helping enough to use the Bach Flower Remedy, also. The Composure made an immediate difference, but I had to triple the dose (allowed increase) for the first few days, then double the dose. He's still on a double dose per day, but finally beginning to settle in, enjoying new experiences.

If ProQuiet is working well for your dog, that's great. But if it isn't, you might want to try the 'Composure.' My Vet couldn't recommend it more. I've since ordered more from Ammy, at a substantial savings over purchasing it from the Vet Clinic.

I've tried several calming remedies for my two little devils, and this one seems to work ok. They get a little more quiet and don't swing from the chandelier as much.

On the advice of our vet, I purchased the Pro-Quiet. As our dog has gotten older he has gotten more anxious when we have to leave, and it is much worse if it is raining or storming. If I give him one of these on a day when a thunderstorm is expected then we have less anxiety and he doesn't freak himself out.
