I just received my Corelle Country Morning Whistling Teakettle today. I was pleasantly surprised when I took it out of the box. First, this is a high quality product, and for a fraction of the cost of most other whistling teakettles. The photo on the Amazon website does not do justice to the product. The handle, spout cover, and knob look black in the photo, but they are actually a beautiful shade of rust. The color just pops when my range hood light shines on it. It is the cutest teakettle I've ever seen. I am more than satisfied with this product, and with the speedy delivery service, too. You won't regret buying this whistling teakettle.

UPDATED Oct. 4, 2007--I just read the review titled"Pretty but Useless..." dated Sept 19, 2007. This teakettle is an excellent product as far as utility is concerned. One should never fill a kettle to the top to boil water....about 2/3 full is best. I have never had a problem with boil-overs, nor with pouring the boiling water out. Just keep the water at a lower level in the kettle, and it should perform just fine. Believe me, this is a fine teakettle.....and not just a pretty one.

I recently purchased this tea kettle. Aesthetically it is even nicer looking in person than you'd expect just from the photo online. Even the lid also has some very pretty detail that you don't notice in the online photo. The kettle is substantial feeling and looks very high quality.

It definitely boils water to a nice temperature.

I read the reviews that gave it a low rating due to spewing boiling water when boiling and pouring and I don't think these people followed the max fill line direction indicated on the kettle. I don't have that issue at all. If you only fill to the max line, you have no trouble avoiding water spewing out of the nozzle when boiling and you have no trouble pouring the water into a cup without a drop of water spilling anywhere but safely in the cup. You can't overfill the kettle because if you do, then it will definitely sputter water while boiling on the stove and will do so through the pour nozzle and you'll have trouble pouring safely into a cup if you overfill. The fill line max is just under the nozzle and there is an indication of this on the outside of the unit. It's very obvious. If you fill beyond this line, you will definitely have water spewing on your stove and trouble pouring.

It boils just over 32 oz in one pot's worth of water. Plenty of water for two people or four people if you are using 8 oz cups. Our teacups are 16 oz. so we can get 2 cups worth out of one pot's worth of water.

The whistle sounds like a train is coming at first but when at full strength whistle it does sort of start to sound like one of those emergency weather alert sounds :) We don't mind it at all and actually like it. I think it's nicer than the higher pitched shrill sounds you normally have with kettles.

I rated this kettle with only one star because the pour spout does not pour out right. It will burn you with hot water if your not careful. Do not buy. I think this product should be on the recall list.

The whistling sound is a little odd; not what I expected. It sounded like moaning pipes; had to get used to it. As one reviewer pointed out, that could be a good thing, though; not shrill. I have not had any problems with the melting cap as the one reviewer said, but it is plastic and now that I know I will take extra precautions. My big problem with this teakettle is Amazon, not the item; this, my first experience with buying from Amazon, left a bad impression. They sent me a defective one with dented lid (someone else's return?) so the lid couldn't be seated on the kettle, then shipped a replacement that had some kind of manufacturing crud or warehouse glue all over the outside of the base. Not just dirt to be washed off. Some kind of adhesive or gum that had hardened. I combined the good base of the first one, with the good lid of the second one, and shipped back the defective. Amazon got a little confused and emailed me to say a refund check was on the way, which I declined; but in the refund invoice itemization I noticed they charged me a "restocking fee" - for THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTs!! Wow that's some nerve, adding insult to injury. Also the original offer was for free shipping; the refund invoice also included a charge for revocation of the free shipping. I just simply don't appreciate being shipped defects, TWICE. And, if this HAD been a real refund situation that was due to a defective product (i.e if I hadn't wanted the replacement), then I would have felt ripped off with their "restocking fees" (you can't restock a DEFECT; hello! obviously, just a gotcha fee) and I would have felt ripped off with bait-and-switch of quote, "free" shipping charges. I feel fortunate to have learned these things about Amazon when it wasn't to my detriment, before they were able to raid my pocket; and wanted to pass the warning on.

I sent it back - it is pretty and matches the corelle ivy decor well. but is does not pour well, the inside lip of the spout is rolled inward and makes for sloppy pouring, hard to get into teapot. It did not whistle, at all at first, but was only half full, so I tried it again with it full, 2 qts.+ (and the teapot is only 1 qt.) it then made a very low whirring sound, not loud enough to hear if you aren't next to the stove. I looked up the description at the web site it is shipped from, and is does say it makes a different sound, cant remember now, exact phrase.
