I got a bunch to use as a cat dish! Plastic dishes can give cats chin-acne (weird), so stainless steel and ceramic is best. These fit wonderfully in my dishwasher, unlike most cat dishes (and people-bowls, too), so I can fit more in a load. They are definitely not fragile, and the colors are awesome!
This might be a weird use for bowls like this, but they really are the perfect size for cat food. They fit a 3oz can of cat food very well, with some extra room for the cat to push stuff around. They are also not very deep, making it easier for the cat to eat from it.

For people-uses - awesome small sturdy-feeling bowl. Would probably be great for dips, ice cream, apple-sauce-type-stuff, condiments, etc.

Recently, I've replaced all of our dishes with products made in the USA. Our dishes are now Corelle (both vintage and new patterns), and our mugs, soup bowls (aka the Jumbo Cups), and cat dishes (aka the Fruit Bowls) are all Fiestaware. Because heat causes lead to leach out of the glaze, it's especially important that dishes meant for hot items be lead-free, which these are.

Fiestaware products are sturdy and attractive, and I like their classic styling, as well. The colors are vibrant, which means they'll brighten up your cupboard and add pops of color to your table...or your cats' dining experience. =^.^=

I've been recommending these to anyone who'll listen, and I know my husband and I will get years and years of service out of these little guys.

I have several of these bowls and use them frequently. They are the perfect size for snacks. I also use them frequently for food prep tasks when I'm cooking - they're a good size to hold a half-cup to one cup of a dry ingredient. And of course, they are the perfect size for their intended purpose - fruit. I find myself putting fruit on the table more often now that I have these bowls. A cereal sized bowl seems like a lot of dish for one serving of fruit. This smaller size prevents clutter on the table - especially if you are serving salad and bread on individual dishes.

It may sound trite, but these really are the perfect size for a side serving of, say, sliced peaches or applesauce. They also work nicely for holding condiments or in kitchen prep work. A good way to pick up Fiestaware at an affordable price.

I have one of these fruit bowls in every color Fiesta has ever made! They make terrific cat food bowls when I give my two cats their 1/4 can of Friskies morning and night. The "stuck-on" food soaks off easily or washes off easily in the dishwasher. It doesn't make any difference which colors come out of the cabinet since all the colors coordinate well with all the others. What do the cats have to say about them? "Meow . . . meow . . . meow." (Translation: "I love you!" or maybe they're saying "Just feed us!" Whatever . . . it works.) I've only broken one dish in all the years I've used them when I dropped it on the tile floor. My husband got quite a kick out of telling everyone they are made of vitreous china . . . same as the toilet bowl.

I received two of these as a wedding gift. They are quite small in comparison to the kinds of dishes I'm accustomed to as an American, but I absolutely love that about them. They perfectly hold a single serving of fruit, crackers, or ice cream (not the size serving I want but the size serving that satisfies my sweet tooth without expanding my waist). They also work well for holding a dipping sauce, salad dressing (for those who dip rather than drizzle), or any small side item. I like using these to help control my mindless eating. Instead of just eating out of the box or bag, I'll measure out a single portion into my little bowl and then put the box or bag away.

As to quality, the ceramic is excellent, not too heavy, not too light, and the glaze work is both beautiful and tough. I machine wash and microwave these dishes. They do get hot in the microwave, but it's not too bad.

I used to use these Fruit Bowls for everything but since I discovered the newer Fiesta Small Bowl, I now mostly use the Fruit Bowls as spoon rests while I'm cooking. They are great for that & fit in the dishwasher better than a real spoonrest.

If you've ever worked in a restaurant you'll know the Fruit Bowls as "monkey bowls," the little bowls you might use for a side of green beans or something.

But the Small Bowl is a little bigger than the Fruit Bowl and has taller sides, so I am now using those for side dishes that won't fit on the dinner plate (or that contain a lot of liquid you don't want to run everywhere i.e. creamed corn).

They are a little more functional for sides not only because they're bigger but also because the more vertical sides (as opposed to the sloped sides of the Fruit Bowl) make it easier for kids to eat out of without pushing food out onto the table.

The Fruit Bowls stack/nest nicely & will take up less cabinet space than the Small Bowls though.

It's a tough decision which one comes out on top, but if I only wanted to buy one I would go with the Small Bowls just because they can do everything the Fruit Bowls can do & more.
