Yes, it does "work". Meaning if you get the RangeMax router or wireless access point, the pair of them do give you better range than (for example) a Netgear WGT624 router with a WGT511 card (and other such combos that I've tried). It's a bit erratic -- the signal level fluctuates, which seems to me to be a software (algorithm) problem. I hope they can improve it further, but for now it's meeting my needs.

A bit more detail: I have a large house, and the networking stuff is all at one end (never mind why), so at the other end of the house the wireless signal would fade to nothing. With this RangeMax combo I can now get an adequate signal (2 bars) where I used to get nothing.

So don't expect too much, but also don't be daunted by the bad reviews, it's worth a try. As you know, every building is different, so as they say in another context, your results may vary.

I'm writing this review way after I bought this card. Honestly I don't think anyone would ever need one of these any more. So I will simply say that it worked fine for me when I had it, no complaints.

Wow, this was a find! I purchased it in July and have had no problems with it. I actually purchased it from another site "refurb" and mine is FABULOUS! I am pairing it with an old Netgear WiFi 11b system, and when I was visiting family, they had the D-Link 54g and wow a tri-level home and I had outstanding signal. So I give this a BIG THUMBS UP! I am preparing to purchase either the Next or Mimo router this evening..so wish me luck!

Up until now, I have not been able to connect my Garage (for projects)laptop to the internet. This N card works great with my Netgear dual band router. I can now connect with the world, while working on various projects in the garage. Im very pleased with how wll this works for me.

I bought this device sometime in 2009, on eBay, to the best of my knowledge, for $20. It was used, and I had to download the software/drivers myself.

However, it outperformed the wi-fi card that was in my old Dell Latitude D610 by leaps & bounds. I was living downtown at the time, only 3 blocks away from the library. The card that was in my Dell was just out of reach, when I was indoors. But when I added this card, it gave a 4 bar signal to the public library connection, indoors, which was free for all. It allowed me to cancel my ISP service that was costing me over $50 a month (at that time).

And for over a year, I enjoyed a free, fast internet connection, until I moved. That $20 used card paid for itself many times over. So I can't complain at all about the purchase. Had good speeds too. I could download a 700MB Linux install disk in about 15 minutes, on a less than the highest speed public wi-fi. Even my Magic Jack worked with it.

If one can get their hands on this, at a reasonable price (not $100, that's way too much), go for it. As long as the etailer stands behind the purchase (Amazon will), you can't go wrong.

I have the rangemax router and this PC card and have had no problems. The range extension is phenomenal. The 108 Mps speed pretty much is only available at home since it goes with the rangemax router. Otherwise I usually get about 54 Mps locally. But when using the laptop on the road (which is my normal mode of operation) I can now log onto access points I could barely detect before. Evidently the antenna is pretty good for what it is. I have not had a disconnect problem from the router but have continued to have the same old tired disconnect problems from the ISP and certain web sites. The asking price for this is a little high but it shouldn't be difficult to find it on sale.
