Editorial Reviews

From the Studio

This movie, produced by George Hirliman, has the Conrad Nagel-Eleanor Hunt star pair perform together for the last time in a crime-buster movie. Bank robbers are convinced that they have a foolproof plan and pull off a job. They hadn’t taken into account the perseverance and clever deductions of a tough G- man who is quickly on their trail.

THE PLOT: Federal agents Alan O’Connor and Bobbie Reynolds are on the trail of a gang of clever bank robbers, which includes Karlotti, the owner of an elite club in Los Angeles and Curtis, the head cashier at the 2nd National Bank. Alan’s sister Kate meets conman Tanner on a flight and falls in love with him. Curtis helps in inactivating the alarms making it easy for the gang to walk in and empty the bank’s vaults. It seemed like a cakewalk until they realize that they had made some grave mistakes - leaving behind a trail of clues. Bulbs, a bumbling photographer and friend, provides some comic relief in the tense melodrama. The movie serves as proof of Producer George Hirliman’s uncanny ability to produce quality low-budget thrillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cops And Robbers, July 28, 2006
This is a high end classic cops and robbers movie. The heros are FBI men who are chasing after a string of bank robberies. There is a little bit of comic relief, but for the most part its a straight ahead cops and robbers film that has the ending you would expect. There are some very good looking guys in the movie and I thought all the actors did a good job with their roles. Once again, I was impressed by the quality of the film stock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done Police Procedural, May 5, 2006
This is a classic police procedural with a twist - the two FBI agents are a married couple. This allows the film to introduce an aura of romance that similar films don't have.

The plot is straightforward - there is a group of counterfiters who may or may not also be robbing banks. The couple investigates, follows clues and eventually foils their plot.

There are a number of 1930s films that follow a similar plot outline and I like most of them.

This is no exception.
