I purchased this steamer because my wool baseball hats had shrunked from exposure to sweat. I also have some western hats that needed to be reshaped and resized from years of abuse. The steamer is very well made and comes fully assembled. You fill up the plastic bottle with distilled water and place it in the unit. There is a check valve in the bottle to prevent spills. After turning on the power steam becomes available in about 2-3 minutes. I had no problem using the unit to resize and reshape my hats and it makes plenty of steam. As a note of caution, this is not a toy and should not be used by children without adult supervision. The steam can easily cause burns if your hands get too close to the nozzle. Also, if you are planning on resizing you hats you will also need to buy a hat stretcher. I purchased the one made by Killer Hats and it works well.

We haven't used the steamer yet so the 5 star review is based on faith.....the quality appears excellent. My husband was thrilled to get this steamer and was impressed with the quality. He LOVES to wear hats and has a number of them.....some were quite expensive. We used to make a trip into N.Y. city every year or so to have his hats professionally cleaned and shaped but this is a bygone service. Now, with this steamer and a hat sizer and brush that I purchased along with the steamer, he can take care of his own hats. We were impressed with the quality of the unit and were happily surprised that you can purchase attachments for the unit.
We plan on ordering an attachment that will turn the unit into a garment steamer.......something I have wanted for sometime. I hadn't purchased a garment steamer because I was unable to find a quality unit. Now, I apparently have one!
