I don't understand the bad reviews that this film is getting. It doesn't have much of a plot, that much is true. But I must disagree with others that the acting is bad or wooden. It's a slice-of-life type of movie that really does concentrate on the characters. And the scenes don't try to do more than that. I thought the bar scene was really great, and some others but I don't want to spoil the movie. It reminds me of something that could have been created in the 1960s instead of the 1990s. And I don't think it would have been nearly as well done had it been done in color. As a matter of fact, if you watched the outtakes on the DVD you can see it was shot in color, so I'm sure the black and white was done on purpose. I give this five stars.

A young, attractive former drifter named Colin is dissatisfied with his relationship to the older man who took him a few years ago. The lover (Hugh) has no idea anything is wrong. Freida, a former road buddy, comes to visit the younger man, and talks him out of it. That about sums it up, and will save you from sinking in this molasses. Molasses is a good term, cause the story moves so slow that it seems to have been filmed underwater. Why, pray tell, is Colin moping? Are Hugh and Colin really lovers, or sugar daddy and hustler? What was Freida's relationship to him? Was she a surrogate mother? Did Colin run away from home? Do any of these people have jobs? The filmmakers spent so much time and on idle chat that they threw out the characters developement. Don't expect to see these actors again--they're lousy. The actress playing Freida acts like Sylvia Miles on quaaludes. The actor playing Colin is handsome, but so wooden, he's more fit for a storefront window than a motion picture. Dispite Hugh's prominence in the title, he only has a small role, and is an annoying nelly. The only good thing about this is some attractive scenery in the Pacific northwest. But those who go for that should get a postcard instead of wasting time and money on this film.

I saw this movie at a local video store, & like most gay men, I jump on anything with a gay story line, however, this little piece of cinema will certainly make me think twice about grabbing anything with two guys embracing on the cover that's not in the porn section. The dialoge was laughable & I winched everytime that "Frieda" creature came on screen. We did finish the whole "film" because we were laughing our (...) off throughout the whole thing. The only thing I can recommend about this film is that after watching it, you'll have a newfound respect for good acting, screenwriting, directing, cinematography, catering... You get the picture.

The most striking thing about this film is the photography. Tiny gestures are magnified in close-up; the composition is interesting overall. However, the script is slightly over-poetic and stilted in places. Add to this some hammy acting on the part of the actress who plays Freida, plus some upstaging from some heady drag queens...and everything comes down a few notches. In spite of this, the boat scene with Freida and Colin works very well. In summary: A thoughtful movie which might have been better.

Black and white film with action as vivid as a dead cow. Wth people care and create such tedious things?
If you want to watch it, you need either huge amount of coffee or an alarm clock, which wakes you up now and then.
Once again a movie overloaded with quasi intelligent dialogues, very slow takes and amatourish actors. However, it doesn't hurt to watch actors playing two leading parts. At least they did their best.

A surprisingly enjoyable low-budget film. The romantic storyline tugs at the viewer's heartstrings as we see the torment faced by a young man unsure of his wants and hopes of the future. Anyone who has ever been in an intimate relationship will be able to appreciate the joys, sorrows and struggles depicted in this film.

Ok, the acting isn't very good but I think there's Merit in the story it's cute and heart warming I think these guy really love each other. I know Collin gets a little bored and wants to go have his big adventure, but he come back in a few hours and when he does you can tell he doesn't want to hurt Hugh who is still sleeping in there bed. the story is a little slow but I say watch it, it's fun in a campy sort of a way.
