  • Maximize productivity. Featuring robust print and copy speeds of up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) letter black and up to 4 ppm color, the HP Color LaserJet 2820 AiO lets your business produce professional documents with little time and effort.
  • Consolidate and share. Built-in HP Jetdirect 10/100 Fast Ethernet wired networking lets your office workteam share all-in-one capabilities. For personal use or hosted sharing, connect directly via the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port.

Easily scan and capture documents and images
Scan to e-mail, application, desktop, or computer or network folder with ease. With the HP Color LaserJet 2820 AiO, archiving, editing, and sending documents and images electronically is a fast, simple, and reliable way to capture paper-based documents in digital format, so you can better manage valuable information. Use the ADF or flatbed scanner to easily scan business material -- such as documents, manuals, and reports -- directly to your computer's e-mail application, software application, or to a folder on your computer or network drive for easy archiving.

Greater efficiency

  • Focus on business rather than waiting for output. Instant-on Technology saves time and energy, delivering your print job's first page in 18 seconds for black-and-white documents (29 seconds for color documents). Small jobs finish before most competitors' products have warmed up.
  • Scan, send, and archive at high resolution. Integrate, store, or send brilliant images with up to 19,200 dpi enhanced scan resolution. Use the automatic document feeder (ADF) for unattended copying and scanning of documents up to legal (8.5 by 14 inches) size, or use the flatbed scanner for bound and single sheet originals. Enjoy greater versatility with the ability to scan-to e-mail, scan-to PC desktop, scan-to PC folder, or scan-to network folder.
  • Count on HP printing technology. A suite of image enhancement technologies is integrated into the all-in-one and its HP printing supplies: HP ImageREt 2400 ensures exceptional-quality color output, while HP Smart Printing Technology (using genuine HP supplies ensures availability of all HP printing features) monitors and makes automatic adjustments to cartridges to ensure consistent quality throughout cartridge life. Special fuser modes virtually eliminate print defects and provide optimal color printing on a variety of HP papers.

Easy to use

  • Be assured of compatibility. Depend on industry-standard HP PCL 6 and HP postscript level 3 emulation to yield the most precise, reliable, and consistent results.
  • Manage with confidence. Access device and supplies information from the control panel, featuring a 16 character, two-line back-lit display. And with one-handed removal and replacement for the five supplies, management is quick and effortless. HP Toolbox, the HP Embedded Web Server, and HP Web Jetadmin remote management software lets you adjust settings, receive alerts, check status, and manage network access settings.

More for your money

  • Simplify digital imaging. Capitalize on the convenience of integrated photo memory card slots featuring support for seven popular card types and formats. HP Image Zone for Windows offers tools to view, enhance, manage, and share digital photos and scanned images.
  • Invest in versatility. Get the multipurpose, easy-to-use HP Color LaserJet 2820 AiO at an exceptional price. Reduce costs by printing strategic, high-quality color documents in-house. Increase efficiency by producing only what you need, when you need it.
  • Conveniently make precise copies. Easily produce high-quality, color or black-and-white copies of bound documents, single sheets, or objects such as placards with the flatbed scanner. Use the ADF to quickly process multi-page documents.
  • Handle a variety of business needs. Spend less time loading paper with an input capacity of up to 375 sheets. A 125-sheet multipurpose tray and a 250-sheet paper tray offer easy access to a variety of paper finishes, sizes, and types, including labels and envelopes, at weights of up to 47 lb (177 g/m2) and HP laser glossy and photo papers up to 70 lb (220 g/m2).

HP Smart printing supplies advantage
HP papers and HP Color LaserJet print cartridges are designed to work together with HP printing devices, so you can depend on consistent, high-quality results. HP designs its print cartridges to continually adjust toner properties to ensure high-quality output over the life of the cartridge, which enables the precise printing needed for halftone images, smooth grayscales, and fine details. HP Smart printing technology is activated every time you put an HP print cartridge into your product, allowing you to monitor your current supplies, and conveniently order new supplies with HP SureSupply.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Happy Purchase, July 1, 2006
[...]
Installation: (Easy) The first thing you should do is insert the installation CD. It will provide very good (explicit) installation instructions. Use the active guide. You can slide the bar back and forth to help you follow the instructions. What I did was to follow the active instruction to the end then I would slide the bar where I felt I needed more precise help. This system works very well because unless you move forward arrow, you control what you need to review.

[...]

Print Quality: Excellent!

Scanning: You can tell the difference between the original and the copy. I would guess that there is about a 10 percent (or less) loss in clarity. My other HP scanner/ printers have been very close to original quality. That may not be important to you.

Possible Problem: This machine is a well constructed, professional quality machine. It is bulky and heavy for the average person. Unless you are physically active, more than six feet tall with long arms, don't try to handle this 60 plus pound item by your self. Get a friend to help. Put the printer on a very stabile table (preferably a heavy duty printer stand). A card table is not strong enough.

[...]

Possible Installation Problem: When installing the Imaging Drum, be careful that you line the drum up with the slots provided in the machine. The drum will slide down the slots easily to the bottom. Once at the bottom, press firmly down. It will click once it is in place. The instructions will not tell you to do this. Try to bring down the front cover. If the front cover will not come down and fit flush with the printer body, you have not seated the Imagine Drum correctly.

Paper Placement: The CD describes the HP 2840 which has two paper supply areas. Not even the written instructions tell you about the main tray. It is not a tray at all. On the face of the printer below the "HP" logo, is a finger slot, pull outward. That is your paper tray. At the front edge, pull out the tray extension. Then there is another extension by rotating a panel on top of the tray outward to provide full length paper support. In fact, the support extends about 3/4" beyond the paper.

Would I purchase this machine? I'm pleased with the machine. It is a typical HP quality machine. I haven't tried it's other features. For my purposes, it is fine. I don't see any need for the HP2840. If you are working with two different qualities of paper, then perhaps the HP2840 is the machine you need.

PROBLEM:

Don't look for a manual. HP has included the manual in it's program, according to them. Ask Tech support to direct you to the manual. I haven't found it yet. If they have taken the trouble to provide it on a CD, the could have printed it. This is one area which makes me unhappy.

This is an outstanding color printer. I have used it for more than six months. I'm very happy with it. 3-18-07 PC

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice...but..., January 17, 2007
By H. Hegedus (Bend, Oregon) - See all my reviews

Ok, for the price, this can't be beat for a small office. However, some caveats. First, it is pretty noisy, not "I can't hear myself think" kind of noisy, but if it sits next to someone all day and gets heavily used, they will find it annoying. Second, our printers power supply shut down a week ago (about 4-5 weeks after we purchased it) and we are hoping to see a technician with a replacement part today. So we have been without the use of this printer for a week. Luckily we had a couple little inkjets scattered throughout the office that allowed us to get by.

Finally, be careful when you order, because this item did not include the 250 sheet paper tray. I caught this just as I was about to order and added the paper tray for another $100 or so. Pretty stupid to sell it without it (considering that it is intended for an office environment), but that is how it is marketed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drivers needed, September 14, 2008
By Gerald Kaiser (Austin, TX USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this unit over two years ago (2006) and was very disappointed when HP took until March 2008 to come up with their first (and so far only) driver for Leopard (OS X 10.5). Even now some parts are missing like software for the envelope-printing widget. I tried calling HP Support, but they could not do anything for me. For $1000 (the price I paid two years ago) I expect better.

Also, the is constantly calibrating itself, adding to the noise already mentioned in the other reviews.
