Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Bandai created DICE with a Japanese crews for U.S. audiences. It has aired on Cartoon Network, and is tied to a line of action figures and a PlayStation 2 game. The teenage members of DNA Integrated Cybernetic Enterprises handle difficult assignments throughout the Sarbyllion Galaxy: they rescue people in danger, bring medicine to sick children, and destroy an errant comet before it can crash into a heavily populated planet. Although Captain Tak heads the team, the main character is hot-tempered, red-haired Jet. He and his fellow DICE members ride computer-generated vehicles that turn into mechanical dinosaurs at the command "Liberate!" The rather mild adventures in DICE will probably please elementary school boys--its obvious target audience. But the program is also an interesting example of the increasing influence of anime on American cartoons. (Rated 7 and older: minor violence, mostly robot vs. robot) --Charles Solomon
