West System 206 Slow Epoxy HardenerThe picture is a container of .86qt 206 hardener. The is an error. You are actually getting .44pt, which apparently is mentioned later in product description. It comes in a different container. The headline/picture are misleading.

Love the product, really love it. But the picture needs to reflect the product. I needed to quickly re order the 206 in the size of the picture. The actual size bottle that came is only a bit bigger than a dixie cup.

If you need easy and clean epoxy, the pump kits for this works really well. One pump of resin, and one of the hardener.
The slow cure 206 has a worklife of around 45 minutes at 75-80deg. I used it for woodworking making a large 4x8 worktable out of plywood with dowel joinery that would be impossible to assemble in time with woodglue. Testing I did shows good adhesion face to face if clamped well, but marginal (i.e. not as good as titebond woodglue) edge to face. Dowels came out pretty easily and cleanly as well, which was disappointing, where wood glue always had at least some of the wood coming out with the dowel. Might have been the smoothness of the holes that gave it trouble.
It does absorb into the wood, so getting enough glue in the joint requires 2 applications, especially on the edges of plywood.
This is not to say it doesn't work, just that the joints with woodglue will be stronger. I still had to use a hammer and a chisel to bust the joint open, and when it fails it fails cleanly whereas a woodglue joint always takes some wood with it. My compromise is I used it for the edge joining so I can get all the edges coated, but use woodglue for the dowels and insert them after the pieces are together and use screws for clamps. This does require thru holes in the face pieces.
On the plus side it seems to wipe off skin pretty easily, more so than other epoxies I've used.
The other problem is that it is expensive, especially when you can get a tube of loctite PL for less than $5. The PL has a little bit shorter worklife, but is easy to apply and bonds just as well and doesn't run. It can get messy, and you do need a lot of clamp pressure to pull the joints together and squeeze out the excess with the PL vs. this stuff.

I was fooled to by the photo, it is only a small can, I was on the resin page and the option to buy the pumps and hardener as a group came up and that's what I did with out seeing the description and going by photo and title. Expensive little can.

the hadener works very nicely with their 105epoxy resin. I use this to fill everything from small cracks to very large voids in live edge wood furniture. I especially like the fact it cures in lower temperatures.

As for many of the other reviewers, I was fooled by the photo. The one star is not for the product, West System epoxy is an excellent product, it's for the blatant bait-and-switch. The photo clearly shows a 27.5 fl oz (slightly less than a quart) sized can. The one I received was a small cylindrical 7 fl oz tin. If I had been more cautious I would have noticed the product specs say it .44 of a pint, but even this is deceptive since on the can it says 7 fl oz (206 ml), nothing about pints. Come on Atlantic Boat Supply, fix the photo! Your reviews are good but you are damaging your reputation with this one.

Get extended working time from the SLOW hardener. Great for areas that are a little warmer or require a little more working time than normal. This is enough hardener to ratio correctly with a Quart size can of the 105. Use the optional pump kit & save time guessing the ratio.

I've used this to build a fiberglass boat, repair and even general woodworking applications. Preparation is key. Good, clean bonding surface will render good results. You don't want loose fitting joints and IF you need to fill larger gaps, choose the correct additive (filler) to go with it. Finished product will have a wax-like finish so cleaning it off with a solvent and removing the glaze is necessary prior to topcoating (paint, varnish, etc.).

Disappointed. By looking at the picture, I thought I was ordering a quart, but ended up with a 7oz bottle. I should have read closer. The product picture is misleading.
