First off, kudos to Amazon. I shopped around for this light due to needing a bulk quantity, and Amazon cheerfully beat the lowest quote by a couple of bucks per unit, plus prime shipping. I know Amazon doesn't like to play the price match game, but in this instance, it really helped my budget.

I can see absolutely nothing in this lamp to justify the price, but pickings are slim for a suitable fixture that will accommodate an R40 bulb. Each consists of the 6-inch diameter x 12-inch tall, heavy-gauge cylinder (with a closed, flat top), the rectangular backplate with the fancy set-screw mounting plate, and an E26 bulb socket mounted deep in the can. The flat black paint extends into the deepest recesses of the light can, and has a rough texture to it. Based on price/value, I was ready to give this a 3-star rating, but if we're looking strictly at quality, 5-stars wouldn't be a terrible stretch.

So there's no glass, there's no socket height adjustment, no little stylistic details many lights are adorned with... and hence, my annoyance over the price. Although, in fairness, this fixture is well constructed compared to many others I've installed, and ought to last a good long time.

Of the 18 fixtures I ordered, all arrived in great shape despite a couple of boxes showing moderate shipping damage. Certainly, the thick aluminum construction had something to do with this, as the Styrofoam protective packaging was only adequate, not generous.
