I use measuring tapes on transects to monitor vegetation. I had previously purchased this brand and length and had used it for four monitoring seasons before it finally broke. This tape began to tear the first day, and broke in 6 places within three days of use. When I compared the two tapes, I found that the new tape was noticably thinner than the old.
I would have gladly paid twice as much to get better quality, but 400 foot tapes are simply not available. I'm tired of cheap Chinese made products that cost me in time wasted. Doesn't the manufacturer understand that these tapes will be stretched?

For some reason, measuring tapes of this length are hard to come by. So I was really hoping this was better than some reviews suggested. Sadly it wasn't.
It was broken when I opened the box, and in the same spot that a previous reviewer had an issue. So it would seem to be a design flaw.

Guess I'll keep looking.

Bought this to measure a baseball field. Center field is 400 feet. I unrolled the tape for the first measurement and the part which holds the tape to the reel was broken or broke right off. The result is that I have 400 feet of tape in my field with no way to roll it up to reuse.

This probably would work well to use as it was intended and only occasionally. I, however, don't buy something unless I use it up. The center is coming apart and there really isn't much of a bearing system for the spool. Admittedly, I have probably had it unwound and wound back up well over a hundred times. I figured this on being a cheaper alternative to the move expensive counterparts so I bought two. It will last until I wear it out or somebody releaves me of it and I will open the next one. About what I expected so I should give it more stars but "you get what you pay for.*"

*Phrase used in the sense as millions others have in online forums to denote- its cheap, expect it to work a few times and move on with life.

I purchased this item near the end of March and by May 1st the handle had broken off and metal guide for the tap itself had broken as well, therefore you cannot use measuring tape because you can not wind the tape back in. I went to try and return it and even though it's only been a month since purchase i cannot return or even request a return of this item. Plus every time i used it prior to it breaking I would have to manually guide the tape back in to keep it from flipping over and becoming twisted even though the tape measure itself has a built in guide thats supposed to do that for you.
