Product Description

From the Manufacturer

From the Manufacturer The Motorola Ojo Personal Video Phone—real life in real time. Get the Motorola Ojo Personal Video Phone and connect with the people that mean the most to you. Talk to friends and family as if they were right next to you. Experience real-time video communication without breakups or distortion.

For video calls, Motorola Ojo requires a broadband connection over cable or DSL modem and your subscription to an Ojo service plan. For conventional phone calls, Ojo connects to an ordinary phone line. The system also offers a 2.4 GHz cordless phone, phone book, a list of calls received and calls dialed, visual caller ID, and voice messaging. It even utilizes your existing phone number.

Always know what the person on the other end is seeing, with the picture-in-picture mirroring. Plus, Motorola Ojo lets you close the lens whenever a little privacy is needed.

The Ojo base station operates with only one handset at a time and will not function with multiple handsets. To place or receive calls, Ojo needs to be plugged into both the broadband and electrical outlets. The handset charges in the Ojo base station. The base station itself is not battery powered and requires A/C electrical power through the supplied power cord with in-line transformer to function. You can select upload and download speeds between 80 and 250 Kbps on the system information screen in Ojo's main menu. High-quality video calls require a minimum of 100 Kbps in each direction.

Ojo Service
Before you can use Ojo, you must activate your Ojo Service. Ojo Service connects you to the world of real-time, true-to-life video through the Ojo Personal Video Phone. See and hear those close to you with standard service for a flat monthly fee of $14.95, or save money with a yearly rate of $164 when paid in advance. (Prices are subject to change.) To get more information or to sign up for service, contact Ojo Services at 1-877-FORMYOJO (1-877-367-6965).

Ojo may work overseas with video calls, assuming suitable broadband access and electrical power are accessible. However, in some cases, Ojo may not work as a standard voice telephone internationally because the standards for regular telephony vary from country to country. Calls made outside of the United States are subject to regulatory agencies of the other countries, which may limit ability to make or receive calls.

5.0 out of 5 stars No computer needed for OJO !, May 26, 2005
My mother is 79, lives in NJ. I got her a Motorola OJO, and my brother in AZ got one. My mother burst into tears 1st time she saw the grand girls in 2 1/2 years. So life like, almost like being there, she could "almost touch them". So much better than a phone call, so cool. They OJO each other alot in the few weeks they had them. Excellent quality, picture like the TV, very life like. Nice speaker and nice features. Easy to use, no computer. I highly recommend it, price should come down if the cable companies start to offer it. 5 STARS *****

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought 2 Ojos - one for my wife and one for her mom, August 6, 2005
They absolutely love it. My wife and her mother talk everyday on the phone, now the Ojo each other. Again they love it. Well, worth the money.

My brother is about to buy one so we can see my niece and nephew (4 & 6 years old). They have used my ojo and they think it is "so cool". If you have greandkids or relatives far way you cannot see that often this is the product for you.

Sychronization is perfect, is like talking face to face. For $15 a month you can talk as much as you want.

This is the future now!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's All Its Cracked Up to be, November 24, 2005
Bought 2 OJO's for ourself and grown children/grandkids out of state. Great picture quality. Be sure to have good backlighting. We've added a new word to our vocabulary..."we are going to OJO you later today". Since product was introduced they have added a video message capability so that if you can't reach another OJO, you can leave a video message of up to a minute and a half.

Installation was very easy. Connects via ethernet cable to back of router or DLS/cable modem. Phone powers up and recognizes broadband connection. You then call OJO to hook up video connection. Costs 14.95/mo. for unlimited video. But to see the grandkids say goodnight from long distance....priceless.
