Love the plunge base, works like a charm... easy to set and holds just where one wants to. Even can set to hundredths of an inch! The only complaint I have is the packaging, just tossed into a box with absolutely no packing, rattling around with the two additional parts for dust. The other thing I have an issue is, no instruction sheet (which I guess DeWalt figures you don't need instructions if you know how to run a router?), and no registration (is it good for 90 days, 1 year?).
SO, the upshot is that while I love the base, I'm a bit underwhelmed with the packaging and lack of information.

I have owned a DeWalt DW618 router with the fixed base for a couple of years now, and I am huge fan (see my review of the router for more on that). When I started looking for a more powerful plunge router to replace my old 1.75hp Ryobi I decided it made more sense to buy this base and use my existing 2.25 DeWalt router motor as my plunge router. This base is very well machined - the fit and finish are excellent. The plunge mechanism operates very smoothly with just the right amount of resistance. The handles are extremely comfortable, and the dust collection design works well too. Basically I have found no serious shortcomings in this product. My only beef is that it is a pain to find the right parts to hook up my Fein Turbo II vac to the dust collection tube/port. But in fairness to DeWalt that is due more to the odd size of the Fein vac hose than to this router base.

Highly Recommended!

I have been a loyal DeWalt user for a while now. This is the first product I've bought from them that I can truly say seems to be junk. I received one for Christmas last year. I started using it on a project to cut mortise and tenon joints about a month ago. After about a dozen cuts the base got stuck and would no longer lower/raise easily. Since I didn't have a lot of time to kill waiting for a repair I ordered a second base on Amazon. After using the second base for about the same amount of time, I am having the same exact issue! Very frustrated as I need that base to complete my project and now I'm stopped again. Not sure what I'll do at this point....

Got this for my 2 1/4 :-P dealt router. Works great. Smooth plunge operation. Sturdy built. Edge guide works with it. Base is circular but has one flat side about 3 inches in length. Great for running along a clamp.

I love it... I originally purchased my DW618 with the D-handle base. The spiral (threaded) height adjustment made precise adjustments difficult and tend every time you unlocked it base to make a change, the center position relative to the bushing would change. The plunge doesn't need to be unlocked to make adjustments.
