Been using this for years, first purchased at a specialty tackle shop under recommendation from a pro. He was right: This stuff does the job, does not stink, does not get gummy, and supposedly does not break down mono line. Works perfectly on all kinds of reels, esp. spinning reels for touch ups. A little goes a long way and you will find many uses for small lube jobs. Bikes, small parts, pocket knives, cables, etc. The applicator tip is perfect for getting the lube right where you want it without wasting.

A must have for any bait casting or conventional saltwater reel. A drop applied onto each shaft bearing and onto the level wind mechanism results in a noticeable improvement in both casting distance and smoothness.

There may be some more expensive fancy dancer out there that is a faster lube or some caustic penetrating oil that removes corrosion better...but nothing works better as an all purpose reel oil than Reel-X (Corrosion-X) and its safe for anything in a reel.

Scrub out old grease or corrosion with a toothbrush saturated with this stuff and its dissolves. Have a grease that is too thick for a small reel, cut it with this to get a great light lube. Want a bearing to spin better? Reel-x has been the standard for many years.

Best all purpose reel oil for use in saltwater especially or fresh water too.

I thought it worked like any other thin oil, until I wicked it into a caked up concentric shaft and gears in my old spinner that I didn't have to properly disassemble and clean out. After working it a bit, it seemed to softened up some of the hardened grease and bring the sinner back to life. I wouldn't have expected that from my previous oil.

I believe Reel-X, which is a petroleum based lubricant, melted or dissolved the rubber seal at the foot of the rotor body on my two Penn Conquer 4000 reels which I purchased new 2 -3 years ago and use an average of 1.5 monthly in salt water. I have used no other Lube or corrosion resistant material when cleaning after each use, except soap and water. I have many reels and have noticed no other adverse effects. I use most of the Corrosion-X products and find them superior to their competitors.
