I use to use solely zoo med aspen for my snake collection, I used it for my Boa and for my Milks, and I used it in a blend for my Ball Pythons. Lately, though I noticed my boa soaking in his water for an extended period of time. I checked for mites, did the normal stuff, and then I found that the aspen bedding was actually irritating his stomach. I cleaned the cage out and replaced it with Kritter's Crumble Kritter's Crumble All Natural Coconut Husk Fiber Reptile Substrate and Small Animal Bedding - Fine, 21 quarts, which I use for my Carpet Pythons. He was EVER so greatful, and has not since returned to his water bowl due to irritation. This will be the last round of zoomeds bedding I used. Shocking too because I've used this product for the better part of 6 years without an issue. Once the last cage needs to be cleaned that contains it (the milk snakes) they will be moved to something finer and less irritating.

Also - if you plan on using this for Ball Pythons, please note that you will have to change it VERY frequently if you keep the humidity where they need it. Once this stuff gets a hold of moisture it will mildew! You've been warned America.

well, actually "I" don't love it, but Striker, our striped king snake seems to revel in it. His tongue used to flicker in and out about 15 times a minute,..now he's up to 20-30 flickers a minute, except after a meal,..that's when he kind of shuts down all systems for a day. This is better than the old tried and true shredded newspaper, trust me,..that stuff is hard to clean out, and gets stuck to the glass. With this, we dump the bulk of it in the trash,..the rest--we spray it outside with the hose and let it float down to the neighbor's driveway, where he, no doubt, enjoys driving over the super-luxurious, albeit used, snake bedding on the way to his 9-5.

I got this for my young Western Hognose snake. This is a burrowing species, and this bedding holds tunnels very nicely. He likes to spend lots of time under the bedding. It's soft and clean and not dusty. It's easy to spot soiled bedding and throw it out.

The is a huge amount of bedding for my little snake, too. I bought this 6 months ago and it's still not gone. Very good price - at Petco the same amount of the same brand of the same stuff is like double the price. Very good value here on amazon.

I really like this bedding. However, I underestimated how much I would need for my snake's tank and had to use one whole bag. I was hoping to spread it out between two uses.. Oh well. Still a great bedding. My Ball Python seems to like it and it's not too sharp.

This bedding is great for snakes. Our corns love to burrow in it and it's just the right consistency for them! It also is still easy for to clean up the snake feces for our older corn. The younger corn (only about 2 months old and still having the thinner/runnier poops) is harder to clean up after as the poops are easy to miss. Overall, it's much nicer than the paper towels we'd been using before. If you use this, I wouldn't recommend feeding the snake in the enclosure as I've heard they can get impacted bowels from the sawdust.

My snake has been using this product for 10 years. It's very fresh without having an overwhelming "pet" smell to it. Very easy to clean up, we just use a broom dust pan and scoop it out of the tank. It collects waste well too so you can simply remove the waste without losing a lot of bedding. The large bag fills a large snake aquarium. Its very fluffy at the beginning but begins to settle and become less fluffy which is great because my snake like to create tunnels through this bedding. I absolutely recommend this to any snake owner!

My corn snake loves this stuff. This is strand bedding, not flake type aspen. The stands overlap and retain heat very well, as well as allow for tunneling for snakes who want to find an ideal location in the aspen for heat -- something that flake bedding just doesn't do well. I have a 50 gallon cage, and half this bag is what it takes to give me a little over 1 inch of bedding uniformly across the tank, with a little left over to bury hides in a mound of bedding.

It also seems fairly soft enough that it doesn't cause my corn snake's snout much irritation. Corn snakes aren't normally burrowers, but will do so for heat or security, and I've never seen any irritation caused by this stuff.

I don't recommend all ZooMed products, but this one is definitely solid. (Not to mention, it's generally far cheaper to get here on Amazon then in big pet stores).
