Product Description

Product Description

In 1884 Master Cutler Karl Elsner started his cutlery factory in Ibach, Switzerland and in 1897 he crafted the Victorinox Original Swiss Army Knife. Since that time the Elsner family has continued to craft tools of percision, durability and quality. Victorinox is one of the largest producers of cutlery in the world. Victorinox cutlery has been distributed in the United States since 1884 to culinary professionals under the brand name R.H. Forschner. Each blade is stamped from a single sheet of metal. The blade is then hardened, tempered, ground, polished, etched and finished.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice blades, undersized handles, March 12, 2007
I ordered this set after receiving my Forschner Victorinox Fibrox chef's knife, hoping it would be the same=quality product. I love my chef's knife!
I was wrong. Yes, the blades are great -- exactly as described by America's Test Kitchen.
The handles are woefully undersized! I have trouble using them because they're so difficult to grip.
I'm hoping Victorinox redesigns the handles on these!

5.0 out of 5 stars So nice to have sharp knives again, January 24, 2007
I had been using my Victorinox steak knives for all my cutting needs because I can't be bothered to get out my huge cooking knives and have to clean them afterward (yes, I am that lazy). I finally decided to get some knives for paring, etc. that I can throw in the dishwasher. The first time I used the paring knife in this set I actually cut my thumb because they are so much sharper than what I had been using (yes, I have that horrible habit of cutting towards my thumb and not away). Anyway, I was pretty impressed. This is a good brand, and this is a nice little set.

3.0 out of 5 stars Tiny handles, June 28, 2007
By Matt T (California) - See all my reviews
Blades are of good steel and well shaped but handles are slippery plastic. Much prefer the large textured grip on the 4" Victorinox parer.
