I was nervous when the right-side maintenance tank on my Epson 9900's warning light came on - 90% full. I had no idea what a maintenance tank was or how difficult it was to change it, but the Epson 9900 guide does warn that if one of the maintenance tanks become completely full, the machine will cease to print. I ordered the part from Amazon, double-checking the tank model #, which should be compatible with my machine. It was delivered quickly. I was amazed how easy it was to change, it just slides right in and out of the machine. Tip to extend the life of your maintenance tank if you have an Epson 9900 or similar model that has a left and right tank, the right tank will fill a LOT faster then the left one, so when you notice the right tank at around 50%, swap the left and right tanks. Also, this tank works on both the right and left sides, they are cross-compatible, so you not need to keep a left-tank and right-tank around, just one backup maintenance tank will be fine, you can use it in either side.

If you have a large format Epson printer, then you might have had to replace one of the Maintenance Tanks already. It's really not much more than a plastic box with super-absorbant material in it. The fact that Epson puts a microchip on this is ridiculous and comes down to one thing... making money from you long after you paid of the printer. To me it looked like it could have held more ink before the machine refused to print any more. Oh well... the choice was to buy this or let that expensive printer become a paperweight. By the way, the product works well.. but so would a bucket.

When you need to change the waste ink tank, you need to change the ink tank. This item is over priced but works great. There is probably generic versions or ways to empty and waste ink tank, but for a few $ it is not that expensive. If you seldom need to unclog the heads then you will not need to replace the tank often.

No one likes to see wasted ink, but this thing catches it like a champ. Some people try to "recondition" their existing maintenance tank, but why chance it, these are cheap enough to just replace when needed.

It is a factory part, it fits well, when it is full you throw it out. The absorbent material should be cleanable some say, but really. I think not getting ink everywhere and on my hands it is worth it. I will be buying more, as I do print allot so I will fill it allot.

Hard to gush too much on a printer maintenance tank that works. The worst part is seeing how much ink went into the tank and remembering how much you paid for all that nice color that's going to a dump somewhere!!

Quickly replaced the ink storage tank in our Stylus Pro 4800, and regained the ability to print! Annoying that you have this part, and amazing to feel the difference in weight between a new and a used part. Just think of all the wasted ink! Alas, it's needed, and Amazon has a good price.

Note that you should be careful when removing the old one, as it can be a little messy! Don't touch the (possibly still wet) ink!

The ink tank for the 4800/7800/9800 is a simple plastic box filled with paper absorbent. Thirty five bucks is way too much to pay for such a simple device. You can "refurbish" the tank with a roll of toilet paper. Remove the lid from the tank, remove the cardboard tube in the center of the roll and cut the toilet tissue in half with a bread knife. The two halves will just about fill the box to recreate the absorbent. Here's the kicker. The printer reads a chip on the tank and remembers the last two tanks, and maybe more. It will not let you reinsert and reuse a recently used tank even if it has been "refurbished". If you have a buddy with the same printer you can switch refurbished tanks to fool the printer.
