I've tried a few bedroom/bathroom door levers and was disappointed with them as the mechanism would often stick; then I tried this model and found them to be well made with a smooth mechanism that has never hung or stuck. I also found that the other brands we often noisy (important when trying not to wake someone), and the smooth operation is so much better. I've gone back and replaced all of the door levers inside the house with this one, and thrown the other ones away. I've now had them for about 7 years now, and they still work like new.

I just bought a house that was built in 1970 and it was in a need of a remodel. With 3 young kids, I wanted to replace all the round (and outdated) door knobs with the lever so that my kids could open the door more easily. There are less expensive ones out there, but I insisted on getting Schlage because of their good reputation - and that's exactly what I got.

The Amazon prices were great (and my local Lowes would not price match) and with Prime, it was no brainer. They were very easy to install and came with all the screws needed to install. They feel sturdy and precise. Maybe I am weird, but it's something you are going to touch daily and I want to have that quality feel, which this one delivers. And it looks beautiful and gave our home a modern look that I wanted.

Oh, and you don't have to worry about a left hand or a right hand with this one. You can change it with a little pin that comes with the unit (and with an instruction on how to change. It's really easy).

I changed over all my brass plated knobs to these levers. Schlage makes a quality product never knew the difference until I moved to the new place. I told the builder that the handles were broken as they had so much play in them and the spring tension was so weak, not realizing that they come that way. Save yourself the trouble and get something that lasts, one cool thing I did as well was to install the front door handle upside down so as to be able to use your elbow/arm etc to depress it if your hands are in use, also helps to clear an inside hanging blind that the blind company (you know the one) failed to consider clearance around it when measuring.

Sturdy, nice finish, smooth mechanism. Works beautifully. Door handle has to be positioned in only one direction, depending on how the door needs to be locked. In the bathroom where I installed this, the entry door handle swoops in one shape, and the linen closet in the bathroom has the closet door swooping in the other shape (upside down). It looks nice both ways, but fits the hand ergonomically better like the picture shows, with the higher part of the swooping handle fitting into the palm of the hand. I don't mind the two different "swoops" on the different door handles, but if you care, you probably would be happier with a door handle that looks the same upside down as it does right side up. This one doesn't.

As an ex-Home Depot employer, I can tell you that this company has earned it's good reputation having a great line of products. I chose this to remodel my current home, having a matching lever on the bathroom faucet. I also have the passage and am looking to purchase several keyed versions.

Worried about left-hand/right hand? There is a small pin that comes with each one that allows you to install the door and switch from Lh to Rh in seconds, without having to uninstall the unit. Keyed upside down? Having this pin allows you to take out the lock mech and switch it over again, w/o having to uninstall.

Great for you house flippers, remodelers, and like me, just sick of those pre-installed gold door knobs. Nickel is great, but there are more colors.

Buy it you will enjoy! Amazon should pay me, lol!

I rated this lever 4 stars only because I wanted to leave room for something better. Since I didn't buy/install other levers I can't make a general statement as to whether this lever is in the "best" category. I bought this lever because it seemed to provide good value compared to other levers and, after installing a whole house full, I still have that opinion. If you are considering this lever note that the handle is easily reversible and the same 'key' that unlocks it is the key used to unlatch the handle so you can reverse it. This provides fewer parts and is good design practice. I was replacing existing round knobs and this lever fit in without any modifications to the existing holes or latch. I used the existing screws to attach the levers because the screws that came with the levers were slightly bigger and I didn't want to have problems with threading. I picked the bright brass to replace existing bright brass and it matches exactly. The quality of these levers seems reasonable for the price.

I bought these for our whole house. They are incredibly easy to install and are heavy duty. They are metal throughout and feel very sturdy. They make such a difference from the old brass knobs we had! They look very elegant and are so easy to open with an elbow or knee, if your hands are full!
