I've been eating Jing Jing Jahe for the past 15 years, even taking some with me when traveling in Indonesia, where it is manufactured. When you first put a candy in your mouth, you might wonder where the ginger heat is, but don't worry. After a few minutes your mouth will be enveloped with the most wonderful ginger taste you'll ever experience. This chewy candy is not for those who do not like "hot" foods, but for ginger affecionados, it's a wonderful treat.

I guess you would have to, to buy this many! ;) I purchased this candy after my brother and sister-in-law brought a similar candy back from Indonesia as gifts for the family. I liked that candy so much that I searched for something similar on Amazon and found this. This candy, though the packaging is different, tastes exactly the same (and is actually made in Indonesia). It is hard to describe the texture...been thinking about it for a while, but I can't think of anything that has the same texture. The closest would be a jujube candy...it's chewy like them, but doesn't stick to your teeth quite as bad. I like to suck on them until they dissolve, but it's hard to make it through without chewing them. The taste is a very strong ginger flavor and they are almost hot (like cayenne pepper, but not quite that hot...definitely feel a "warming effect" in the mouth though). If you like ginger, and don't mind a little heat, you will love these. They are so addictive, and they almost seem to clear your sinuses a bit. Love 'em! :)

I've been buying this candy for a few years now, since I found it on a shelf at an Asian supermarket.

I love the chewiness and then the slow warming of the ginger in your mouth. It's not 'hot' but some people don't like the spicy warm it creates.

However, I cannot believe this price of the candy on here! If your neighborhood has ANY sort of Asian market, check there first. I just picked up 6 bags (5oz each) for $1.59 each.

Granted, I don't have a 'local' market, so when I get the chance to go to one, I stock up :-) It doesn't take long for me to go through my stash.

I was introduced to these candies by my grandchildrens' Chinese language tutor. Are they chewy? They are pull-your-fillings-out chewy! Are they delicious enough that I don't care about the dentist bill? As SP would say, "you betcha!" If you like ginger, and you like spicy, I would choose these things over just about any candy out there (ok, if you need chocolate, you need chocolate, but I'm just sayin'). And since ginger is great for digestion, they also give me a great excuse to chow down on them after dinner. Try these babies. If you like them, chances are you won't have to share them. My experience has been that people either really truly love them or absolutely can't stand them. Enjoy!

I love these ginger candies. I was given some while suffering motion sickness on a boat and they did the trick and were tasty. I also think they help soothe my sore throats. I find them a little addicting and many times have to stop myself from eating half a bag in one sitting. These are a little pricey since you can find them much cheaper at your local Asian markets. Unless-like me-you find yourself in a small town in Alaska where everything is triple the price it is anywhere else in the lower 48.

One day I saw these at the store and on a whim decided to buy them for my wife as a treat. The man at the register asked if I had ever tried them before, and I said no. He said "Good...because otherwise you would eat this bag on the way home! They are that good." I was sort of curious, so I thought why not, and opened the bag when I got to the car. I had one, then another, and could have finished the bag before I got home. I expected something sweet and sugary, but was delighted to find no "sugar shell" and a nice kind of "Oh Wow" feeling as it dissolved in my mouth. My wife is now crazy about these, and I always buy a bag for me "for the ride home". I am not a candy eater, so I do not consider these candy, I consider them health food!

We've enjoyed these ginger candies for years. Outstanding product. They also made an improvement warpping them in a foil wrapper, as they used to wrap them in paper. The paper would get all stuck in the candy, so you'd either lose some candy stuck to the paper or wind up eating a chunk of paper. Now that they are wrapped in foil.... voila' .... that does not happen anymore. Smart move.
