I had been searching for a good feeder for some time, but found most of them to be either too expensive, too hard to clean, or too bulky. While these have a sturdy base they are not clumsy. For the first time, I don't have cat food on the floor. They generally like to take the bites out of the bowl to eat them. This is no longer happening. Another bonus I wasn't expecting, was the amount the feeder holds. Six pounds didn't seem like much, but I have 8 cats and the container lasted a full week before it needed refilling. The same with the water. This alone saved me a lot of time. I had been refilling both their dishes at least twice a day.

The water container is easily cleaned, and a great design that allows me to carry the filled container without spilling since the spout gets unplugged after the container is placed in the dish. The bases don't scoot around, but set firmly in place. The extra wide hole for filling the food works well and doesn't create spillage when poured from the bag.

Overall, I am very pleased with the price and the product.

The bottle stays quite securely in the base, and the walls of the base are high enough that my dogs generally don't spill the water out of it. Of course the entire unit can be tipped over, but overall it's quite sturdy and stays upright unless pushed over quite hard (e.g., when one of my dogs has a seizure).

What I like best about the unit is it's easy to fill in a regular sink, e.g., a not-deep bathroom sink. It appears the manufacturer sized the water container intentionally for this, as it's pretty nearly a perfect fit in my sink to fill.

It has a wide opening so looks like it will be easy to clean if/when I need to (I haven't yet). The water is controlled in coming out by a separate little cap/hole in the lid. With that open and the container in place on the base, the water trickles out into the water dish portion.

The cap is very secure, but sometimes it's a bit hard to get it aligned so it screws on tightly.

Overall, I'm very happy with these units. I've bought several of them for my rather large dogs.

This waterer has a smooth surface on the entire surface in which the water comes in contact. VERY easiy to clean, no rough surface, ALL areas are accessable by hand (for cleaning). Has valve in cap so when it's inverted onto the bowl it may be then be opened AFTER the water jug is inverted. Anti-microbal plastic bowl. Smaller 2.5 gallon size most practical, the jug snaps securely into the base also.

We have two cats which we adopted a few months ago and needed to go away for the weekend. I did some research into self feeders and purchased this product based on the price and the reviews. I am very pleased with the product. Both cats immediately took to the water feeder without any hesitation. I feel the older cat even drinks more water than she previously did. The younger cat sometimes dips his paws in the water bowl and uses it to bath, but this doesn't prevent both cats from drinking from it. It is very easy to clean- I wipe it down with a cloth every few days. I have kept using the water feeder since receiving it, where I only used the food dispenser for the weekend we were away. I had no problems with it and that too is also easy to clean. It did not come with any instructions but to be honest you don't need any. Fill the lid with food and snap it to the gray bottom dispenser. I think some reviews noted problems with difficulty filling them and experiencing water spillage. I wonder if they did not tip the feeder upside down when securing the lid as I can't see how "water was everywhere". The description said colors vary but we received a very nice neutral color that I would describe as a washed out mint color. It is a nice color and would look nice in any room. For our purposes (weekend away), our two cats, and the price we paid, this product works very well.

Actually got this for my two dogs, but the smaller one got scared the first time the waterer made the bubbling sound, and now he won't even try drinking from it. He's fine with the feeder. The larger dog will occasionally drink from the waterer, but the bubbling also startles her, and she prefers the water bowl I still set out.

But the cat loves the waterer. I haven't caught her drinking from the toilet since I got it.

The feeder/waterer are both sturdy and attractive, and I would highly recommend it for cats and non-timid dogs.

We have two cats and used this and the waterer by the same manufacturer while we were away for Thanksgiving. I was concerned about it getting clogged and not coming out properly so we tested it out over the weekend prior to leaving with no problems (meow-mix, so standard kibble size). We returned 5 days later with happily fed kitties. Our neighbor peeked in on them once or twice while we were gone but it really wasn't necessary, the feeder worked perfectly. It holds ALOT of food.

My only complaint is regarding the plug that pulls out of the top of the container (you add the food in this way). It is a bit difficult to get it to fit back in once you remove it. I would consider this to be a very small issue considering the peace of mind it gave me over vaca.
