I purchased two filters. When it came time to replace the first one, the second one came apart when I turned on the water to the filter, and water gushed out into the sink cabinet. Luckily I was there when it happened so I could turn the water off, or it could have flooded our house.
Because this product failed after the return period Amazon says I can not return this defective filter. For the filter to come apart like it did is an obvious manufacturer defect and I want my money back.....Update:I now have a high regard for Amazon for granting me a replacement after I found the filter had a manufacturer's defect well after the guarantee period. I never expected a water filter to fail upon turning on the water or ever during it's useful life, so I purchased two so I would have an extra handy when it became time to replace the first one. Thank you Amazon!!

We've had this Moen water system to eliminate the bad taste and odor from all the additives they treat our local water will. It's a shame this particular model uses such ridiculously expensive filters compared to the newer models. I really should subtract a star for price, but since it makes our water palatable and we drink a lot of water, it's still cheaper and greener than buying bottled.

I have been purchasing the Moen 9001, from a local plumbing supply store, for the past 9 years. I had paid $59.95, for the filter, in July, 2013. When I went to purchase a new filter, at the same retailer in Jan,2014, the price was $70.95, which is outrageous ! With that, I had decided to look elsewhere.I had discovered quite a few available on Amazon, from several sellers. I located a new one for $41.50. The shipping was reasonable at $3.75, and no sales tax. A great find !

It works with my my Moen PureTouch AquaSuite filter and is the only filter that works with this filtration system, which is permanently installed in my kitchen counter. Occasionally the O-rings on the filter are too small, the filter leaks, and the O-rings have to be replaced in order to use the filter. I have notified Moen about this problem several times to no avail. It looks like a manufacturing error to me. Anyhow, when the product works, it is fine.

This filter produces what everyone wants which is better tasting tap water. Since this filter is effective at removing chlorine everyone is happy. Basically this is a Brita without having to fill and refill all the time. So from a convenience factor it's awesome. Nothing more annoying than an odd sized pitcher taking up fridge space that you constantly have to fill/wait, fill/wait. What this filter doesn't remove is flouride and that is a problem. No point in writing a lengthy review on flouride here but 10 minutes of internet research will inform those who are interested. If flouride is getting through you can also guarantee that other harmful chemicals are left in the water as well -1 star for price, -1 star for what is not filtered by the 9001.

We've used these for years...It isn't like the ones that filter out all of the calcium and other minerals but it does the job good enough for cooking with and for the doggies water. I make iced tea with it too and it tastes good! I notice that when we are having a lot of crap in our city water and the city has to pump a ton of chemicals into it it takes more of the life out of it because it has to work twice as hard but that's ok.

Our drinking water dispenser at the kitchen sink receives only this filter. So, I have no choice but to buy it to replace the old filter. However, this time around, Amazon had the best price. Not always the same case, though.

I recommend that you do your price comparison (with shipping charges and taxes) before buying.

It appears that the manufacturer has a newer system available with a different model filter....had a great customer service experience with them involving system replacement.
