3.0 out of 5 stars kenwood 7017, December 23, 2005
I will start by saying that overall I enjoy this radio. I would have enjoyed it more if it was a little cheaper but the touch screen function is cool. Ok here are some cons, when the radio is cold, outside temp less than 30, it will make a loud grinding noise, I think its coming from the cd carriage, until it warms up. Annoying. Second there is only a choice of 5 backround displays and they all stink. 200 dollard lcd decks have more backrounds than that ie. dolphins, cars, nature, ect. There is no internal hard drive which stinks when you want to add navigation because you need to have the additional dvd player under the seat with the navigation unit. Movie quality is good but between the hours of 11am and 3pm there is no way you will be able to see the screen, it is very dim in direct sunlight, almost completely unusable. Sound quality is great so if you are building a loud system this is a good choice. Over all I would have to give this item a 3 and recommend you go with the a touch screen deck with built in navigation.

pro: sound, touch screen, looks, and ability to connect external video equipment ie. xbox
cons: cd noise when cold, no hardrive, lack of graphics, dim lit display in the daytime, difficult to use navigation.

4.0 out of 5 stars great product, December 27, 2006

got this screen back in february, for $900 I've been a proud owner since then. My main fit with this unit are the following: LCD could be more bright it's very difficult to watch a movie with sunlight on it, and I would have enjoyed DivX playback, nicer graphics and user customizable backgrounds the ones that come with it just bite. Aside from that a great buy, I love the dual zone technology on this you could be listening to something on the front and have your passengers on the back listening something totally different.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Product?, April 19, 2006
So I am a huge fan of Kenwood car audio head units, I have had them in just about every one of my automobiles. However I have not yet had a touch screen double din TV. I have had a flip out TV in my last car though which I was extremely happy with. I have just purchased a new Ford F-150 and it has an in dash six disk CD changer (double din) so I am looking for a double din TV to replace it with. Seeing that I have always had a Kenwood radio I figured I shouldn't break the trend and put one in my new truck. Out of the entire double din TV's I have looked at I seem to like how this particular TV looks the best. However we all know that looks aren't everything when it comes to car audio.
A few important questions I have; what is the screen resolution like? I know it says in the radio specs but I would like to have a personal opinion as well. Also how many AV inputs/outputs are there? I am planning to run a few more TV's in my truck (a flip down, and head rests) so I would like to make sure there are enough inputs/outputs to go to all of them. I would rather not split the video signal if I don't have to because I don't want to lose picture quality. Also I have herd that Alpine has had a problem with the motor in the TV when you try and eject a CD when it flips down. Has anyone heard of this being a problem with this specific Kenwood radio? Last but not least the touch screen feature, does it work well? Or do you have to press hard to get it to work? I don't want to mess up the screen by pressing it to hard constantly so I think this is important aspect to look at.
I plan on installing this system myself. Does anyone have any pointers? Or are there any special tools I will need? I think I have everything but I hate to have to run to the store when I have my whole dashboard pulled apart, even though I am sure everyone has had to do it once or twice before its still a pain in the butt.
I look forward to getting some good advice!
Thanks
-Fletcher
