I am a commercial tree grafter and have used about every brand of clipper made. These are the favorite of everyone in my grafting crew and if i give them a felco or some other brand of clipper they ask me for this one instead. They cut easier than most clippers and must have incredible steel for the blades because they go forever without getting dull. Slightly smaller than most clippers but will cut quite large. The biggest drawback is that some of the big guys with really strong hands can end up bending the handles of they get too big of limbs in them. Some of my older of these clippers have probably made in excess of 200,000 cuts or more and are still serviceable. We do keep them oiled for longer life.

I have had three of these pruning shears. I lost one, and I like to have two around. They are sharp, work very well, and are small enough to fit in snug places when you want to cut dead flowers without ruining the ones that are in full bloom. They are comfortable in your hands and comfortable to use. I use these mainly to prune roses. They do the service for most of the year. In winter when I do the heavy pruning, on the really thick branches I turn to larger shears. But these do the job on about 97% of my yard tasks. There's only one negative; the colors are awful. They sent me a pink set, and I must say it was truly ugly. But having tried various shears over the years; these are the best.

I learned about these from a florist friend. They have a comfortable grip and are very sharp. My friends says they stay good and sharp as long as you don't use them to cut wire! I'm a gardener and learning floral design....these are the best and most comfortable clippers I've found.

I reach for these pruners whenever I have general yard work to do: cutting small twigs, flowers & herbs. In fact, whenever I go outside I take them with me. I would not recommend them for men with large hands, but for women, they are the best. They open & close with one thumb twist; they are stainless steel & wash easily.

I must have VERY small hands, as these pruners were still too big for me to comfortably use. They did appear to be very well made, sturdy, and a very good pair of pruners.

For comparision's sake, laying my hand flat on a ruler, from tip of thumb to tip of pinkie measures about 7".

I found the Dramm Compact Pruners (http://www.amazon.com/Dramm-18016-Stainless-Compact-Pruner/dp/B002WGINKE/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top) to fit my hands perfectly. Sadly, they have no replacement parts the way the ARS pruners do, but I don't feel like I'm going to stretch my hand into pieces trying to operate them.

I have two pair of these and love both. My only complaint is the seller does not let you pick a color so I was stuck with pale yellow and the second pair I got was white. UGH! I wish they sent the purple or some other color than white. White is VERY hard to find in the garden if you leave them somewhere. Otherwise, perfect, especially for smaller hands.

This is my second pair. The first is beat-up looking but still sharp. I decided they were so good, I needed a second pair for inside the house too, for flower arranging, etc. What is so good about this pruner is that it fits smaller hands. And the action is very smooth, and the blades are sharp and stay sharp.
I am disappointed that one cannot choose your colour. I received the cream both times, not something I would choose.
Item packaging is entirely Japanese, with no English on it.
And on this second pair I just received, there is an annoying clasp/lock on the bottom, which holds the two sides together, for storage. But when you are using it, I find it gets in the way. On the original version, there was a small discrete lock mechanism near the base of the blades. Much better. There should be no substitutions made, on products. Just start a new listing!

The clippers are sharp, but I found that the red plastic part of the handle was too slippery for my garden-gloved hands. My hands kept sliding off the handles. And the locking mechanism being so close to my fingers kept accidentally being knocked into the lock position which was irritating considering how I wanted to keep a constant pace up on clipping my garden plants.
