I hadn't tried these before, but I needed strings for my school guitar (I'm an elementary music teacher), and these were listed at a good price. I took a chance. When I first put them on, I noticed that they weren't as bright and crisp as the GHS strings I had been using. Not bad, just a little on the mellow side. Well, I used these strings all through concert season, and they have been great! The tone, while initially mellow, has stayed pretty consistent through these months, and I play that guitar a lot (probably 3-4 hours a day all together, every school day). I have beat the stuffing out of these strings, and they still sound alright. Since they were kinda mellow to start with, they haven't suffered that "dead" sound that brighter strings get after awhile (as much, anyway). If you need ultra bright, snappy strings, these aren't for you, but if you like consistent, smooth, easy-playing strings, I'd give these a try. They stay in tune really well, too!

I play professionally and wanted something for my Martin D35. Played other strings over the years on my baby so I thought I'd give it a shot. Very happy with the results. Silvered highs and phos bronz mids and lows give all the round resonance and tone I am looking for from a Martin like mine. Priced nice but the shipping can be a bit rough unless ordered in quantity. Recommend a trial shot with one set to see if ya like em then drop some money on quantity for eco reasons.

I love EC so I tend to gravitate to things with his name and image. But honestly I thought these strings would seem no different from the many other brands I've used over the years. I was suprised to find that they really strike a nice balance between bend-ability and picking and strumming response. I'm very pleased and I definitely recommend them.

I just replaced the strings on my Takemine New Yorker G406S acoustic guitar with Clapton's Choice light gauge strings. The Claptons still provide the brightness that I value in a smaller, parlor-sized guitar, and yet inject welcome depth into the lower register. My guitar sounds better -- more presence, more of the "oomph factor" -- than it did with the original D'Addarios (which, however, I suspect were extra-lights). Nonetheless, finger action and bendability are good with the Claptons, and I'm pleased to find that they offer enough resistance to stand up to a heavier strum without overpowering themselves. So far they stay in tune quite nicely. Time will tell, but I think I may have found the strings that, for me, are a perfect match for the New Yorker.

I really don't like these strings much. They're nice for the price, but it leaves much to the imagination. The tone quality is average, somewhat muddy. What I really don't like about them is that they took the volume out of my guitar. I had a loud, explosive guitar, and with these strings on I was left with about 80% the volume. For un-mic'd performances, this is undesirable.

Well these strings certainly did the job like no other! I have had many of the top notch strings on the market,I was curious about these at first when i saw Eric Clapton on the box and it said that he plays with the exact same ones but now that i installed these on to my guitar, I actually believe he does lol the sound is just so pure and soft. There was no buzzzzzzz or anything when played on even on harsh conditions! These are the best acoustic strings i have ever owned i will stick with these only from now on i seriously recommend these!

i really dig the tone of these buggers. i'd been looking for them for awhile & was pleased to finally see them availed here on Amazon. generally speaking, i'm a ClearTone, Elixir (Nano's only), D'Addario sorta' fella' but when i put these babies on, there's a distinctly different sound that resonates from these when they vibrate - a sound that (to my ears anyway, ymmv) is both warm & bright & more "alive" vs. even the far more expensive brands (mentioned previously). of course, they certainly don't have quite the longevity & staying power as the others but for the price, i haven't found anything that rivals these Clapton's - not yet anyway. my style is more a strumming/ rhythm thing and these take it like a boss. on rare occasion when i do pluck and fingerstyle, this set really has great pitch & tone that rings. if you haven't tried 'em, take 'em for a test drive sometime; i doubt you'd be terribly disappointed or suffer buyer's/ player's remorse!

After playing the most common, Eric Clapton model, Martin Guitar, I decided to give these strings a try.

Sorry, there are no miracle strings! My guitar was slightly louder but the heavier strings required a new neck relief adjustment and they tired out my hands sooner.

I've switched back to my favorite sounding (and longer playing and cheaper!) Martin MFX130 Silk & Phosphor acoustic guitar strings.

The MEC12 are fine but I play several hours every day so, the gentler (also woodier sounding?) Silk & Phosphor strings perform much better for me. Besides, my PRS Angelus Custom guitar has a great sounding pickup system in it so, the slightly lower sound volume isn't any problem for it.
