As far as the lemon scent goes I've never smelled any lemon and I have a really sensitive nose. In that regard I can also tell you that the Summit Disposer Care does a really good job of cleaning out the disposer! Usually when I read biodegradable or something similar it typically means it does a terrible job at doing what it should be doing, but I can assure that is not the case here. One caution I do have is that this is NOT an item that should sit on a shelf for a long time as the packets do harden and their effectiveness seems to lessen somewhat, as well as making it far harder to get them into your disposer. That seems to be typical for most of these disposer products yet none of the packaging mentions timeframes they should be used within. At any rate, use these rather than storing them and you should be quite pleased!

I found this by accident at a Home Depot, and use it about once a month.
I love how it works. It cleans the inside of the disposal.
To clean the outside brim, I use a little OxyClean in hot water.
My sink? Looks/smells new. (until the next bunch of kids comes through my kitchen)

This product seems to do what it is supposed to do. My garbage disposer had foul odors before I started using this product. But now I smell a fresh and clean scent, and the inside of the disposer is as clean as new (I can see down into it with a flash light). Before, it was really disgusting looking inside. I use this product once a week and now I feel confident that my entire sink area is much more sanitary.
